They are just as much in need of catchers as are the Braves.

Do the Marlins trade Ozuna?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
They've signaled they might need to move a position player to get pitching, but I think it'll be someone else. But you never know.

Who would be the best CF acquisition for the Cardinals? I'll give you some options: Pollock, Eaton, Cain, Keirmaier, or Blackmon. Feel free to add any not mentioned.
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
Well, those are theoretical options, maybe. I have a hard time seeing Dbacks selling low on Pollock. Rays are doubtful to move Kiermaier. Royals are going to hold onto Cain unless they do a larger rebuild (probably not happening). Eaton is going to be highly valued by CWS given his reasonably priced control.
And Blackmon ... he's going to cost a ton. Had a huge, huge year -- Coors Field or otherwise.
Obviously there are lots of other potential moves out there. Some FA targets (Desmond, Gomez, etc) and possible trade candidates (Yanks OFers, among others).

Do you view the Marlins and Rockies as similar organizations? Pretty decent core of about 12 good players but the rest of the roster below average?
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
That ... seems pretty apt, yeah.
Dan
2:33
You left off Sonny Gray
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
Not a frontline starter at this point. Don't see A's selling low.
Nathan
2:33
Could you see the Rockies making any big moves
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
I advocated recently for them to dump CarGo and put his salary towards multiple smaller-scale additions.

who joins teahran in the starting rotation for the braves next year
Jeffrey Todd

My big pick? His first name begins with a 'C'

Charlie Morton
Nugget McMurray

Most likely destination for Cashner? I think someone should take a chance on him as a late inning reliever...
Jeffrey Todd
2:36
He's going to get starter money. But I have discussed that sort of idea -- hey, worst case, move to the pen! -- with our writing team.
Hard to pick a destination for someone like that, but A's always like to roll the dice. Some org willing to take a bet with one of its rotation spots.

Assume the Giants get one of the top FA closers. They also need a set up guy. What are some of the likely set up guys they could target via trade or free agency?
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
They have lots of good pen arms IMO. Don't need to go crazy.
Adam
2:37
If the Cards pick up Garcia's option, what about a Garcia for Markakis trade?
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
I don't see Markakis as much of a fit in STL, but I could see ATL pursuing this kind of idea with him.

What kind of return could the Mets get for 3 years of Familia? More or less than the Yanks got for 1.5 yrs of Miller? For a team that is a bit salary constrained, might make sense to move Familia and make Reed the closer rather than paying 20mil for two bullpen arms.
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
Don't see that happening. Trying to imagine fan reaction, though.

Is Johnathan Villar my best asset going into the winter? Do I move him?
Jeffrey Todd

Hold
Mel
2:39
The Tigers need to cut the payroll, J.D. Martinez is the logical choice to be moved. Would the Philly's make a good trade partner?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
How do you trade one of your best players, who isn't all that old or even all that expensive, if you're still trying to contend? I mean, any deal would have to fill needs at the MLB level.
2:41
Problem is, it's harder to find a legit bat at corner OF. And they have 1B/DH already locked up. So it's not like they could go find a cheaper option and hope they hit the lott.

Do the phillies trade for kole cahoun and what would the Angels want in return?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Not enough control. Angels would want quality future assets playing at/near majors. Don't really see a fit there.

Is Weaver,Garcia & Pham enough by the Cardinals to get Blackmon from the Rockies? To me it should be.
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
Nah. I mean Weaver was REALLY impressive this year, and maybe they love him. But Garcia and Pham don't do much at all.
2:43
I mean, don't do much for this deal. I'd be COL would like to have Garcia. But he'd be a big payroll hit. And Pham isn't that much of an asset.

Will you please explain why Matt Moore didn't start the 9th inning
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
120 pitches. I was surprised he got the 8th.
