Let's be honest, you don't want to be doing Thanksgiving Day activities literally all day long.
Chat a while and then you can get back to the turkey or whatnot.

Looks like everyone is feeling happy and festive!

Pop some questions in the queue ... I'm going to wait a couple minutes before getting rolling in earnest to let folks gather up.

After trading taijuan walker. What starting pitching options do you see the Mariners perusing?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
I had them on Jason Hammel myself in the prediction contest. Just feels like a Dipoto move somehow.

Will astros trade gattis if they get another hitter like beltran?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Doesn't seem like it. Wouldn't be immense interest anyway. They appear to be rather okay with him as the #2 catcher, so in that case it probably makes more sense to keep him. Think we'll see multiple players playing multiple positions in Houston this year.

What do you think of the Braves picking up Sean Rodriguez on a 2 year deal? Is he a backup or think he starts for Braves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
Fairly low risk. Not a ton of cash. Flexible player. It's hard to see this hurting too much. Other orgs will spend that much on fairly boring relievers; ATL feels it has a greater need for a plausible right-handed bat that's sort of a Zobrist-lite-lite. Sure, why not?
Jean Segura

What just happened?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
Ha. Well, it's probably a good move for you. Enjoy your healthy arbitration payday this winter and come back ready to somehow repeat.
2:20
I'm still processing that deal, but I can see both sides, esp. if Seattle really does believe not only in Segura, but also the other two pieces.
2:21
They surely did their homework on him, because it hurts to give up the upside of Walker, especially.

Mets Offseason prediction if Cespedes doesn't resign?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
They could add a slugger-ish, RH hitting player who could play corner OF/1B and keep all 3 LH hitting OFs to go with Lagares.
Like, Matt Holliday. Basically another Cuddyer type of signing.
2:23
Certainly plausible they go bigger, too, but that'd likely mean dumping Bruce or Granderson for some salary savings and/or a useful-ish piece like a slightly expensive, decent releiver.

What are the chances the Marlins land Kenley Jansen and what type of player or prospects would the fish get for someone like Hechavarria in a trade ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
I'd be pretty surprised if they ended up with one of the big two closers. I kinda get the reasoning, but it's a bit of a stretch for me. Maybe if they do a backloaded deal and have in mind to deal them if/when that's needed?
2:26
Hech is a rather marginal piece. There aren't a lot of available SS, and he's got the glove, but he really isn't a good hitter. You can go get someone like Danny Espinosa or (on the high side) Zack Cozart, so it's not like Hech is in a great place. There's not a lot of teams with clear demand, either.

Do you think it could be possible the rockies could sign Melancon given colorado is the hometown and success there?
Jeffrey Todd
2:26
My old guy team played at his high school field (Golden HS)! Cool spot with views of the mountains.
Oh your question ....
2:27
Maybe. I don't dismiss it out of hand. But how much money can they really commit to a reliever? They are already going to be in uncharted territory with salary. And he's a risky guy given his age. A few downticks in ability and he's a very boring reliever.

How does Cutch for Gio Gonzalez and Victor Robles sound?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Sounds like too high an asking price.
2:29
Robles is a top-ten prospect (give or take) leaguewide. And Gio has positive value. Don't see Cutch drawing that kind of return right now given the season he had and the questions that remain.

Most likely center field option for the Cards Kiermaier Fowler or Ozuna?
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
I like the Fowler fit. He's not a premium defender, but I don't think they're going to be totally fixated on that. Ozuna makes a lot of sense, too, b/c they match up very well with Marlins on paper.
Don't see Kiermaier moving.

What would it take to get Zach Britton?
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
So I don't see the O's parting with him unless they get a controllable, MLB piece in an area of need. They'd probably be asking for something unwise from the other team's perspective, so I have a hard time seeing a deal coming together.
