Hey all. Gather round, throw some questions at me, and we'll get moving shortly.
Disclaimer: if there's a big move, I'll have to call a timeout to get something on the site!
But it's not like there are any major rumors floating around right now.

Could the Pirates get Robles, Lopez and Ross in a McCutchen trade?
Jeffrey Todd
2:01
If McCutchen had been himself last year, sure. I just can't fathom that now.
Lopez and Ross are both plug-and-go big league starters. Both come with risk, but that's an enormous amount of SP control to part with. And Robles is a blue chip prospect.
2:02
I've been toying with the idea of a 3-team deal of some kind. Maybe Watson is included and goes elsewhere, with the Nats recouping some prospect value from that team & the Bucs?
Just thinkin' out loud.

Who will the Red Sox sign to bolster their pen?
Jeffrey Todd
2:02
That's really just anybody's guess at this point. All we've heard is "probably not Koji".
Oliver
2:02
Is Gleyber Torres a top 5 MLB prospect?
Jeffrey Todd
2:02
Top ten at least by all accounts I've seen.
Steve

Fowler to the Jays. Call it done?
Jeffrey Todd
2:03
I still prefer him to a team that wants a CF. Or that has a lefty bat in CF that they'd consider platooning. That's hardly a certainty, but he just has more value there so long as you assume he can play it passably for a year or two.

Is Andrew McCutchen gonna get traded today?
Jeffrey Todd
2:04
It's rare to see every beat writer for a team just wholeheartedly prepping a fan base like this. So, if not today, soon.
If Nats are trying to get it done today, could be a little game of chicken going on. I don't really think they'll reach, so if nobody blinks, it could drag out.

What's the biggest surprise in the new CBA, in your opinion?
Jeffrey Todd
2:05
Nobody else seems surprised, but I kinda expected a bigger jump in the league minimum salary.
Not surprising, exactly, but the international limits seem fairly drastic.
Tim
2:05
Do you think the Giants will end up with Melancon?
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
I'm beginning to think they'll end up with one of the two bigger names. Just a gut sense. I still think they get one of the three. But I suppose we can't rule out a trade completely, either.

Why give up a 1st rounder for Mark Trumbo, when u can get an actual good player for a 3rd rounder next year
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
Same reason you are rolling the dice on Trumbo in the first place: you want the power now.

with money coming off weaver and cj contracts, can you see the angels spending it on wilson ramos rather than weak 2B and pitching market?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
That would surprise me quite a bit, actually. Can't really use him at DH with Pujols and Cron as righty bats. And it would be a big risk.

Will the Cubs get one of the Big 3 free agent relief pitchers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
Signs point to no.
michael
2:08
Should the mets non tender duda and pick up carter?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Duda is a better hitter and easier to find a platoon mate for, so no.
Brian

Cardinals Predictions?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Still feel they'll trade a starter of some kind. Beyond that, shrug. I do like them pretty well for Dex.
AJ
2:09
Now that Ryan Howard is a free agent, what's the worst contract in baseball?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
No more Howard or ARod to kick around anymore ... Most onerous is probably Pujols. JHey could have a case if he doesn't remember how to hit.
Darrell
2:09
Hey Jeff, hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Why are the Rays standing pat? Do they think they can contend or are they just waiting for to see how the market plays out?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Why thank you, and likewise.
2:10
I don't think they have an area in which to be aggressive in additions. They have brought in a lot of pieces on the offensive side that they surely still have high hopes for. Not sure they can do much there but wait and hope.
Otherwise, it's a matter of assessing trade offers for SP and maybe Forsythe. (Lower likelihood of Longoria - very low, I think.)
Hannah Hochevar
2:11
With the additions of Schafer and Verrett, is it safe to assume that the O's offseason strategy is to acquire all the Logans?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I know I just mentioned Forsythe, but I don't see a fit there. Otherwise, yes.
