The chat could be a little spotty here while I fill in this post about Joey Loperfido, bear with us!

Michael King has allowed the most home runs and given up the most walks. His velo as a starter is 2+ mph slower then when he's coming out of the bullpen. Should he return to the bullpen if he isn't any better by the end of June?
Mark P
8:32
Depends how the rest of the rotation is faring.  If Darvish and Musgrove are healthy and effective, then the Padres might feel a bit better about moving King to the bullpen if they feel they can cover the innings with another starter.

I'm an Orioles fan and I absolutely adore my GM. Mike Elias is the man! He revitalized our org.

We like AA in Atlanta. As matter of fact thought the “poll”that came out the other day ranking Atlanta’s front office behind.
Tom from Philly
8:33
We love our GM.

As a former A's die hard I can say the gm is the least of there worries!
Mark P
8:33
There we go, at least a few fanbases like their GM!
Ross Atkins

Would anyone claim Daniel Vogelbach ? He could use a week or two in Buffalo to get some AB’s.
The guy never plays how can he be expected to produce ?
Mark P
8:36
I'm not really sure why Vogelbach is even on the roster, given how limited his deployment has been.  Perhaps the Jays prefer to have Martinez or Jimenez playing regularly in Triple-A rather than getting only sporadic time in the majors, but the offense is limited enough that having a bat-only player who doesn't bat seems like a waste
Nick Krall
8:37
Should I be concerned with Jeimir Candelario? He is batting .159 with a ton of strike outs.  He is 0 for his last 18 with 12 strikeouts.
Mark P
8:38
Still plenty of walks for Jeimer, but his numbers are otherwise frightening.   While his April numbers usually aren't this rough, Candelario is traditionally a slow starter, so it's still too early to panic just yet

Best player who is still underrated in your opinion? For me it’s Mookie Betts. Just feel he doesn’t get the hype others get.
Mark P
8:41
Who in the world underrates Mookie Betts?!

Yandy Diaz has been my pick in this category for a couple of years now, his slow start this season notwithstanding
Ranger Suarez
8:42
What would it take to lock me up to an extension at this point? DD really blew it by not extending me sooner
Paul Jagger
8:42
Ranger Suarez for 2024 NL Cy?   What sez you?
Mark P
8:43
The Phillies are usually willing to spend to retain "their guys," so even if Suarez's price tag has risen considerably, the team will probably still be open to trying to lock him up.  Suarez has been fantastic this year, standing out even amidst the overall strong Philly rotation

Randy Arozarena bulked up a lot this winter. Could that have affected his swing? I was hoping his timing was just off. Now I’m not so sure.
Mark P
8:44
Quite possibly this might be the case, as players sometimes need more time to adjust to physical changes.

Does Naoyuki Uwasawa end up starting?

Long relief is the plan for now

It looks increasingly likely that Alex Cora will chase a contract like Craig counsell, what is a way to early guess on where  he could land and who could replace him in Boston?
Mark P
8:56
Cora's stated ambitions to eventually become a GM add an interesting wrinkle to this question, as it is possible he might pursue such a role this winter rather than "just" a managerial job.  One also has to wonder if a GM/president of baseball operations will ardently pursue a manager who might have designs on eventually taking over their job, though obviously a decision on a managerial hire will come at the ownership level.

Jason Varitek immediately leaps to mind a candidate in Boston if Cora leaves town, but the Sox figure to talk to a lot of candidates (both with ties to the team and new faces entirely)
Blue Man Group
8:57
Brewers could really use some kind of pitching depth, would a Zack Greinke reunion be a decent idea?
Mark P
8:58
It didn't seem like Greinke had much left in the tank last season, and if he signed now, he'd need some ramp-up time (and probably quite a bit of it) after having such a long layoff.

When do the Astros sell?
Mark P
8:59
To keep repeating myself in every chat since the season started, the Astros aren't selling unless they completely crater.  And, I think the team will get it together sooner or later.

Do the Mets clear house with people on one year deals at the deadline?
Mark P
9:01
If they're not in contention, sure.  But don't rule out the Mets sticking around in the race, and even buying if they're close
IMO
9:11
Perry isn’t doing a bad job. I never fault anyone for trying. But I also don’t think he has done enough, to stay with the Angels. How do you feel about the job he has done?
Mark P
9:12
Minasian hasn't done a great job, as evidenced by the Angels' continual losing records.  That said, it is also hard to evaluate any executive in that role since the issue is pretty clearly Arte Moreno rather than anything a PBO/GM might do
Cuban Sandwich Guy
9:13
When would you guess Junior Caminero will be up, and will he get everyday reps, or will the Rays do Rays things?
Mark P
9:14
The Rays will probably want to give him a bit more time at Triple-A to get his legs fully under him given that he spent time on the IL, but my guess is that he's in Tampa before the start of June
DC Guy

Man, the Nats spotted the Marlins 7 runs (win probability 97.2%) and ended up winning anyway. They're running the bases with verve and panache and since the middle of last season has seemed like a potential star in the making. In 2022 the Nats were old, sad, and horrifically bad. In 2023 they were young, interesting, and merely ordinarily bad. Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the #scrappynats even while not losing sight of the fact that "scrappy" is just one letter from "crappy."
Mark P
9:15
If the Nationals are playing entertaining ball, that's a win unto itself.  In the same way that the Astros beating the Rockies isn't cause to plan the parade, I wouldn't get too wound up by beating the Marlins, but any signs of progress in Washington is a nice step forward.
Jim
9:16
If you were the A's, what would it take for you to deal either Lucas Erceg or Mason Miller?
Mark P
9:18
Both pitchers project to be controlled through 2029, so the asking price would be very high.  Too high for other teams to realistically answer, in all likelihood.  And as much as we joke about the A's fire sale and unwillingness to compete, they're not going to move young pitchers with such promise.
BlueJayCrazy
9:18
When does Shnieder get fired? Or Atkins? It feels like the Jay's are a 5th place team a 5th place GM and coach.
Mark P
9:19
As we saw with Charlie Montoyo, the Blue Jays aren't afraid of firing a manager at midseason if they feel a change is necessary.  This isn't to say by any means that Schneider is a chief reason for the Jays' struggles, but the manager is often the first one to go to try and shake things up
Jo Lo

What took the Astros so long to call up Loperfido?
