Welcome! We'll let the room fill up and get going in a bit ... go ahead and start logging some questions.

2:13
Is Smoak for real?
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
He's in roughly the same camp as the LoMos and Morelands of the world ... they will have their ups and downs but at this point, we have a pretty good idea of what they are as hitters. (Average to slightly above in terms of overall production.)
2:15
Unless and until there's real evidence of a change in approach -- see, e.g., J.D. Martinez or, more recently, Yonder Alonso -- with the record to go with it, there's not a whole lot of reason to change expectations.

Carson Fulmer, when do u expect him up and will be be an impact player?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
I mean ... there's not much in his minor league track record to suggest he's quite ready, let alone ready to dominate.
Fezzik
2:16
Avi Garcia for real or pretend?

.406 BABIP
2:17
Same guy as ever, just a little better contact and batted-ball fortune right now. Now, if he can show that he's just better able to square it up for a prolonged stretch ...

What is your take on the Nationals putting their top pitching prospect in the bullpen to "watch his innings" when he only has 42 innings pitched, and is 3 years removed from TJ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Seems reasonable. Plenty of top starters have cracked the majors as relievers. Some think that's where Fedde will end up anyway. If the general plan for his development lines up with the MLB team's needs, all the better.

2:18
What should the White Sox expect in return for David Roberston?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
His value has ticked back up a bit, though his walk rates are still somewhat elevated. Return will depend upon how much of the contract they keep, which will in turn depend upon how much the buying team is willing to take on versus giving up prospect value. But he should have pretty strong demand ... not a lot of top relievers seem likely to be available.
2:20
Worth noting ... Herrera has gotten results but his strikeouts are down.

Will the Atlanta Braves trade for a first basemen
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Sign James Loney
beachcomber
2:21
Got to believe Braves' fans would prefer an up and comer like Ruiz than a re-tread to keep the base warm for Freddy. Your take?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Re Ruiz ... I guess they could decide it's time to give him some MLB plate appearances, but I assume they'd rather keep him at third and he's not exactly knocking down the door.
Eric
2:22
Fill in the blank: The first major trade will happen by __________
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
June 8
O's Bullpen is Rotten
2:22
What can be done?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
At some point you have to trust in the talent you have. They have guys with track records and others they obviously like. So ... rely on what you have and wait for Britton/trade deadline.
Tom
2:23
When do you think Luis Robert will sign?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
June 15 is the deadline to sign with this class, so it can't be too long now.
Matt
2:24
Which Brewer outfielder gets traded first?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
The NL Central-leading Brewers?
WELL THEN
@DOBrienAJC
now
Rio Ruiz has been called up from Triple-A by the #Braves
ha
I stand corrected.

How long until MLB forces me to stop putting pitchers on the 10-Day DL?
Jeffrey Todd
2:26
The league does at least some amount of review of the medicals to make sure it's legit, so ... I guess they're good to go unless/until there's a problem.
JocForPrez
2:28
Are the Dodgers still a lock to win the division and do you see the Dodgers trading one of the 7,8 starting pitchers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
They were never a lock -- the Giants were (are?) a threat, and the DBacks and Rockies both looked like teams that could threaten if things broke right. Things have broken well for those clubs, so it's still open. That said, I'm still betting on LAD.
2:30
And no, I don't really see a clear trade scenario ... though perhaps that could change. If there's a real roster pressure point when they can't just use the DL/bullpen to move around starters, maybe they do something. Hard to guess right now.
SirBaca
2:30
Will the DBacks be making any moves to shore up that bullpen or pitching staff?
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
Staff has been pretty danged good -- not sure there's a clear need. Obviously they could upgrade at closer, but it's tough for me to see them beating the market for whoever the best, established closers are who're available. I mean, it's certainly imaginable they'll add a couple pieces at the deadline, but I don't see them making any huge, win-now moves.
Fezzik
2:32
How many of Heaney/Tropeano/Richards/Skaggs can the Halos count on for '18?
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
You're talking about four rolls of the dice. So you can't count on anything ... but I guess you can average out what to expect. Like 1.5 effective pitchers?
Le Reds
2:33
What are we looking at for a return in Cozart with his big start?
