June is upon us. Kinda trade season is here. Let us discuss!
2:00
(I'm going to wait another couple of minutes to start, but go ahead and start asking away.)

Seems like the Cards have prospects to cash in on. Any chance they make a move for a significant bat?
Jeffrey Todd
2:04
We'll have to see how the roster looks closer to the deadline. Could be a need in the OF, but there may not be. And they don't really have a hole elsewhere.
Standings will matter quite a bit too. At this point I'm guessing the Cards will largely hold and maybe add some smaller pieces.
Ryan
2:05
What could the Braves get for Jaime Garcia?
Jeffrey Todd
2:06
I mean ... he's an interesting guy. Long history of success and the ERA is shiny right now. Injury issues are less of a concern as a 2-month rental.
His drop in Ks may correct itself, too, since his swinging strike rate is at normal levels. And big GB numbers as usual. He could end up being a pretty nice chip.

Interesting report today from NJ.com said that Gleyber Torres was being groomed to become fulltime 3B this year... any projections as to when this debut could come?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Others have said the same. There's just no real reason to rush. He can certainly stand to gain some more seasoning first, and they can wait to see how their existing players handle the next month or two (health included). But I can definitely see a call-up in advance of the trade deadline if he keeps hitting at Triple-A.

Will a combo of Brad Hand/Solarte net either Devers or Groomed?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
No.

Giants will probably semi-sell. Who's the best trade partner with dealing Cueto and what prospects can he bring in return?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
I still don't have any kind of read on how Cueto's market will develop. As I think I mentioned here last week, it's so tough to value a guy with so much cash hanging in an opt-out clause. If you're a team looking for a good rental, then what's the owner say when you start talking about the risk of having 3 years of big salary hung on you if he gets hurt?
Scott

What are the Giants going to do about the outfield issues?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Austin Slater is coming!
2:10
I mean... they'll just keep giving opportunities to younger guys to see what they have on hand. It's likely going to be about figuring out the offseason plans more than finding a solution for 2017, because they are in a huge hole.
Let's be realistic about the Giants' predicament: they are buried beneath three teams, including one that could be the best in the NL. It's not a good spot.
2:11
Jays DFA Mike Bolsinger for Leonel Campos.
Going to put that up on the site real quick, brb!
Farley Granger
2:13
Do the braves send dansby down or tough it out
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
It'll probably take another month of real issues for them to send him back.
Not like there's a replacement on hand, either.
Brooo

True or False: Brewers should start Thames in the OF more often to get Jesus Aguilar more at bats.
Jeffrey Todd
2:14
I assume they are balancing it all out based on their assessment of Aguilar's ability level and Thames' capacity to handle the OF. Don't see any reason to think they aren't doing that in roughly the correct manner.
Jerry
2:14
Do you see G. Cole being dealt this summer?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
I think he'll be marketed but won't be moved unless a steep asking price is met.
Mario
2:15
Do you think Tampa Bay with the way they've been playing could trade Cobb for a MLB ready player?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
It's possible in theory. They did something like that last year with Moore/Duffy. But in this case it's a rental pitcher, so he's got to go to a clear contender. (That's what happened with Moore, but obviously it's tough for contenders to move guys off of their active rosters, generally.)
Ryan
2:17
Any AL teams out there gonna call the Braves about Matt Kemp?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Sure, but I'm still not convinced there'll be a really robust market. If you view him as mostly a DH, he's a tougher fit for a roster.

2:18
Curious for opinions on what the reds do with Cozart, and how soon. Possible teams in need. Etc.
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
I don't see an early trade coming together unless some major injury happens. As it stands, there just aren't many clear landing spots. There are a few teams that could conceivably bump existing SS to another spot (Red Sox, Nationals) and plenty that could utilize Cozart as a utility player, but those types of deals won't be made until lots of other options are explored.
Drew

Twins are falling off fast who outside of Dozier and Santana will be delt
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Kintzler is the single most likely Twins player to be moved. Assuming they fall back, of course.
Moltar
2:21
it looks to me like first base is the only missing piece for the Astros. Do you think they could swing a deal for Lucas Duda if the Mets stay out of it? I think he'd be a real nice low-cost pick up
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
Seems plausible. So do many other scenarios at this point, though.
Ed
2:22
Does Amed Rosario's strikeout rate and as Mets officials put it, pitch recognition, prevent you from calling him up to the big leagues if you're Sandy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
I mean ... it's easy to imagine him coming up and helping, but I expect they would have done it if they really thought that was the solution right now. But there is certainly some appeal to just going ahead and plugging him in to see what happens. Doesn't always work out, of course -- see, eg Christian Arroyo.

What would the Nats have to give up to get Brad Hand today?
