Jeffrey Todd

Drop some questions and we'll get going here shortly.
Matt Klentak
2:10
Could Daniel Nava actually bring in something of value?
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
I mean ... yes, to answer your question directly.
But obviously he's not going to net a significant prospect.
Suntrust No-Park
2:11
Should Braves just sell already?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I'm actually not totally in favor of a full teardown right now for the Braves.
2:12
Well, let me rephrase that: a full selloff of veterans
2:13
Reason is just that they don't have many players (among those they'd be interested in dealing) who'd draw significant value. So, why not go ahead and  see what happens the rest of the way?
If they end up over .500 and maybe even catch a little lightning in a bottle, that'll put butts in the seats (and money in the coffers).
Ian Happ
2:14
Am I the real deal?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Maybe, but he'll probably come back down to earth some. As ever, it's always better to see a big start but it often comes  with some regression and also falls back due to pitchers' adjustments.
TM
2:15
Would the Tigers listen if teams called about Fulmer?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
They should be open to anything and willing to think outside the box.
Jesse
2:16
Who do you think the Brewers should add and who do you think they realistically will add?
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
Definitely should be willing to make a move or two. Obviously they won't be just punting the long-term plan entirely, but you take your chances when they are available. That said, I don't know how many major holes they'll be looking to fill. In large part this is a team that seems set up to just roll with what it has.
Rick Hahn
2:19
Why won't anyone take my calls? I need to make some moves. Who can I move and where will they go?
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
Nah no rush. Sit back and wait. The luxury of rebuilding without payroll pressures.
Les Gomez
2:20
How bad is Wright hindering the Mets at this point? Seeems like they won't go get a legit 3B while he still hopes to return.
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Well they had a plan in place for the current season, even when they hoped he might be back. I'm sure they'll take an even harder look as the offseason approaches. But there's not much to be done about it right now.
CB
2:21
What kind of return would the reds be wanting from the Nats for Iglesias?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
Hard to know, but it's imaginable they'll just sort of sit on a really high asking price. Say, "Robles or we're not interested."
Mike
2:22
Do you see Iglesias getting traded? If so what do you think the Reds will get back for him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
And I'd say less than likely he is traded, but plausibl.
*plausible
Marlins Mystery Buyer
2:24
It seems like the easiest Marlins to trade are the relievers (Phelps, Ramos, possibly Barraclough), Volquez, and Prado. Do you think we could get enough of a return from someone to deal Ozuna,  Bour, or Straily?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
The relievers are the easiest to trade, for sure. Volquez and Prado -- depends how much cash they are willing to kick in, but I don't imagine either will be hotly pursued, exactly.
2:26
As for the other three .... eh. Imagine there'd be significant interest in Ozuna, but not an immense amount of demand for the others. Both useful players, but I'd put it the way you did -- is anyone going to offer enough to make it worthwhile?
Twins fan
2:27
Will Phillies trade T Joseph? Who might they trade him to?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Just don't see much demand.
Ramim
2:28
Afters todays horrible start by cubs Montgomery, could the cubs jump the trade market soon
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Still expect patience. But they are awfully lucky the division is so mediocre.
ChiSox
2:30
of these prospects who do the white sox have the best chance of getting: Maitan, Clint Frazier, Robles, Brendan Rodgers, Kyle Tucker.
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
Probably Tucker.
Ernesto Solis
2:31
What do you think the market is for a guy like Johnathan Lucroy? Understanding he's having a down year
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
Where's the demand? That's the real issue. Then again, maybe the Brewers ...
Max
2:32
While I realize you must give up something to get something, I'm all for the Brewers looking to add a bullpen piece for minimal cost. Who could they target? Storen, Phelps, Doolittle, Madson, and Neshek are a few names I've seen on the market.
Jeffrey Todd
2:33
Maybe the smart move would be to take a financial risk rather than parting with really good young players? Like, taking on all of Madson's contract. That said, they do have a lot of young talent at or near the majors, so maybe they are ready to begin making some decisions.
Alibi Mike
2:34
What do the Mets realistically do with Matt Harvey: he has almost zero value. Will they dfa him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
All they can do: tender him a contract and hope for the best. Unless the medical situation is completely bleak as of the tender deadline.
TWH
2:35
Do you think it is likely the Giants will trade Panik and/or Belt?  Who's more attractive or could get more in return for?  Thinking Belt's contract and Panik's team control might sway that a bit...
