Others asking re Espi ... the bar for being a utility infielder is pretty low. He's a really good fielder. I think he'll be back in the majors this year.

I just wanted to add that I really love what MLBTR has become. I enjoy having followed the site pretty much since day one. Keep up the good work!

How much stock do you put in the "The team is desperate to win now, so they'll overpay" theory? For example, it seems like fans of every non-contender with a closer thinks that the Nationals can be talked into to giving up Robles for him.

If you get to the root of why people say that, it has merit. Teams now know they are in a certain situation -- for the Nats, say, very likely to win the division. And they have a pretty good idea of what they could do to improve. So, they are more likely to give up more value for the simple reason that they have a greater anticipated return on the cost of the investment.

But the whole desperation thing is a bit iffy ... maybe in some circumstances you'll have an owner that is just plain willing to punt the future, but teams will typically stay within their valuations.

Not a chance.

Teheran to the Brewers make sense?  Hader / Brinson as a return to ATL?
Jeffrey Todd
3:39
I see Teheran is still being overvalued in some quarters ... I'm just not seeing a big return this summer, sorry.

I have been meaning to do a rapid-fire "X for Y?" session for a while. It just presented itself.

Will I be with the braves after the deadline?
Jeffrey Todd

Guessing yes. Minimal demand.

Me too. Sorry if I pale in comparison

Could you see Cozart going to Boston and pushing Bogaerts to third?
Jeffrey Todd
3:41
This probably makes more sense on paper than in practice. Hard to know how the team and especially Xander/Boras would feel about that.
Well, it may not be hard to know how Boras would feel.

Isn't it weird I could be trading my son?
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
Slightly less weird than negotiating a contract with him.
