Howdy! Drop some questions and we'll get going in a few minutes.

What do you think of the Rajai Davis Trade for the Red Sox?
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
He always seemed like a certain trade piece. Makes particular sense given the JBJ uncertainty. Davis is a nice piece to have for the postseason, especially a 5-game series where you don't need to carry as many pitchers.

So Conforto done for the year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
I would certainly assume so. Real question isn't whether he can heal and get back at it -- no doubt he can and will -- but whether this is something that could turn into a recurring issue. I have no idea, medically, beyond the general knowledge that one dislocation generally makes it easier for another.

Any chance Ervin Santana moves in the next week?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Approaching 0

Chances the Reds trade me in the offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
Pretty negligible.

I'm done with moves for the year, right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
Matt Joyce?
Rob Manfred
2:10
How concerned should I be about "abuse" of the new 10-day DL?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
Not very. I mean, it's worth looking into and making sure it isn't purely gamed, but the whole point of it was to lower the barrier to using the DL so that you didn't have guys trying to play through pain, etc.
Ryan Howard

Will I ever play in the major leagues again?
Jeffrey Todd
2:11
I'll guess no, but could go either way.

2:12
See any teams matching up with the Royals on Duffy this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
Boy I don't know. Certainly would be interest from other organizations. Just what the Royals have planned is so unclear at this point. Will be a fascinating offseason, whether or not they make the postseason this year.
2:14
Generally, though, I don't think they extended him with intentions of dealing him. Obviously the value was there, so it was a no-brainer, but that's not really standard operating practice for most teams -- and I'd bet especially KC.

2:15
Do you see Justin Upton opting out and if so where is a likely landing spot and potential contract?
Jeffrey Todd
2:16
I think at this point it is at least a very justifiable decision for him to opt out. Not a slam dunk financially, but I think he could reasonably expect to earn more elsewhere, with pretty strong confidence that he wouldn't need to settle for much less if worse came to worse.
In that scenario, it's probably mostly about personal preference. My gut tells me (and now you) that he will prefer to pick a new home and play for a contender.

Could the Braves trade for Verlander in the offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
So ... I could actually see this. Others may disagree. I think they would love the star power and the fact that his contract -- while big -- doesn't run for very long. And they could definitely come up with some interesting trade assets that aren't really that needed in ATL but which might help the Tigers sell the whole affair to their fans.

Are we wasting a roster spot on Dixon Machado, or wasting his development? I think the Tigers will have to DFA Iglesias this winter since his play can't be worth 5m more than Dixon's.
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
I don't really see Iglesias as a non-tender candidate. He's such a gifted defender. Danny Espinosa was in that same kind of 5-6 mil arb range and he was worth a tender and a trade.
As for Machado ... he could step in for Kinsler.
Patty O'Furniture
2:20
Indians gonna pick up Brandon Phillips since Kipnis can't stay healthy?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Or Asdrubal. Or Lowrie. Or even Cozart.
Am I missing anyone? Still quite a few infielders out there.
Yankees
2:20
Any chance NYY  making any moves?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
They should be talking to the Rays about Logan Morrison and Lucas Duda.

Best waiver claim of the year? Scooter Gennett?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Hard to argue with that. And yes, I have generally been a Scooter Doubter. He has had an amazing year.
Of course he still can't hit lefties ; )
2:23
I still see regression coming, but hey, tip your cap when someone produces.

Do you think it's a joke that I now have legal counsel and the whole gimic has turned into a legal battle?
Jeffrey Todd
2:24
Are you asking if this is all being staged and then there'll be a big hilarious reveal? Or just if it's ridiculous?
2:25
But of course it's ridiculous ... from what I've read (usher tossed the cat in the street, more or less) the idea that the Cardinals have possessory rights over the cat is preposterous. But I may not have all the facts.
2:26
Also, the Cards really shouldn't be doing anything that results in open warfare with cat protection societies, or whatever. A little common sense goes a long way.
