Not saying it's not possible. And perhaps it will help if he loves it there and they run into the postseason. My point was that it's not like the stars just seem aligned for  him to remain w/LAA.

Was never definite. Option (and buyout) is a factor. Not so hot hitting. And lots of other infield trade candidates have been on the market.

Could you see a match between ATL and SEA, with Seager going to ATL and Tehran plus some type of mid tier prospect heading to Seattle? Saw an article speculating M's might move him.

I really don't understand why Seattle would do that. He has been off a bit at the plate this year, but has been a steady 4-6 win type of player for years now. And it isn't like they have a stud 3B waiting in the wings or something.

Hard not to hold your nose and pick it up, I think. Just have to hope for better and move on if not. A guy his age, with his talent, would command that or more on the open market. And he still has option years (or at least one, forget) remaining thereafter.

Normally the August deadline is pretty much a normal day. Had we known it would get this busy, I probably wouldn't have done a chat at all just to avoid any issues with managing the site.

The money is guaranteed. Unless there's insurance, he would not lose the guarantee for being physically unable to perform unless the contract has some language that effect. I'm not aware that it does or doesn't, but would seem unlikely.

I don't think so. At his age, and given the weak market demand, it'd be tempting to take. And that would not likely be a worthwhile investment for that team.

At this point, it is utterly wide open. Obviously, we can imagine some favorites based on certain factors. Perhaps Rangers can cite success w/Darvish, west coast teams proximity (and, in some cases, prior Japanese stars), etc. Yanks/Red Sox are always a threat and seem to have gathered up cash just in case. But we really don't know what will drive him. Could also be the whole position playing thing.
