He can actually be controlled for 3 more years. And rebuilding teams sign or trade for short-term assets all the time. Not ones that are hugely costly in terms of prospects, of course, but as I've said before -- I don't see why Profar would be. He'll be worth whatever the market will bear. And I don't think contenders are going to be placing huge bids with intentions of installing him as a starter.

A lot of people talking about trading Stanton because he costs $25MM a year but with the QO up to about $18MM isn't $25MM about right for an MVP candidate?

Well, he's playing that contract back into being reasonable, except for the fact that it escalates as it goes and also has the opt-out provision, which isn't nothing.  Generally, though, the issue here is that the Marlins are probably going to waste the best years of the deal -- the next several -- because how on earth are they going to fix the pitching staff while also trimming salary?

Not just a homerun, a grand slam!

Not just a grand slam ... a walk off.
Thanks all, going to end it here so I can help set up for parent-teacher night at my kid's school.

Might even stop by Home Depot first, IF THERE'S TIME.
Not even kidding!
