Sorry all, totally lost track of the time! Let us chat.

Will the Giants get Jay Bruce???
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Typically when you see reports lining up like that, there's some reason for it. That said, doesn't seem like a certainty. He's not the cleanest fit there ... sure, they'd like the pop in a corner bat and all. But he's not super young, it's a big outfield, they still need to address CF, etc.

Which cargo is more likely to be signed by the jays, if any
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Whichever will sign for less.

What happened to my market? Am I going to get anything
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Still unclear where that's heading but I have to think he's still in line for a regular job and multi-year guarantee. Does hurt that Rox went elsewhere.
Craig
3:26
Is Andrew Friedman lulling us into a false sense of security, then he will STRIKE when nobody expects?   Any ideas about the "impact players" zaidi talked about acquiring?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Just no chance anyone is correctly predicting the Dodgers this offseason.
I mean you can guess and hope, but ... I'm not even going to try. Does seem they'll stay under the luxury tax line, but otherwise, could do just about anything sti.

A lot of talk earlier about Cole, Cutch and even Harrison, now nothing...what gives?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
No public reporting doesn't mean no talk between teams. There's a lot of interested parties -- teams, agents/players -- circling around right now waiting to see who blinks.
3:29
Generally I wonder if there could be a little mini-rush before Christmas. But who knows? This winter's timing is not running the way it has before. Whether that's a one-year thing and whether it works strongly to the detriment of free agents (now and in the future) still isn't clear.
Homer
3:30
Realistically what do you think Baltimore was looking for in a Machado deal?
Jeffrey Todd
3:30
What everyone has said is two young, controllable, MLB-level starters. So ... I don't have any reason to dispute that they wanted that.
3:31
But it never seemed that was going to happen. Only a few teams even have multiple such pitchers, and giving them up for a rental ... just hard to get behind that.

3:31
Brewers trade for a top end starting pitcher?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
I don't think that Chacin/Gallardo forecloses it.
Sandy Alderson
3:32
Will I do anything?
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
Certainly. But seems there's limited operating freedom.
3:33
Not sure why folks direct their anger at Sandy, though, when it seems clear the real target is the unwillingness to spend, which really isn't his decision at all.
Mikey H
3:33
Any "proven" relievers left for the Brewers to potentially target for roughly $5mil annually?
Jeffrey Todd
3:33
That's Yusmeiro Petit money in this market!
But yea there are a few more guys out there who'd go for 1/5 or 2/8 or whatever.
SaoMagnifico
3:34
Now that the Nats have signed Kintzler and Adams, what's next? Or is Mike Rizzo done for the winter?
Jeffrey Todd
3:35
Now they start trying to line up the big move for a starter or (less likely) impact outfielder. Don't need to but they will explore that.
TheKZone
3:35
What do you think of the Phillies getting Santana?
Jeffrey Todd
3:35
Have to believe that Santana is a pretty special offensive player and that Hoskins can really handle the corner for at least a few years. Obviously, they do. We shall see.
3:36
I'm a bit surprised they made that particular commitment despite the fact they clearly love CS.
Shouldn't be a huge limiting factor even if it goes south, but still ... a $20MM hit to the future balance sheet ain't nothing.
Genghis Hahn
3:36
Any chatter out there about Abreu or Avi?
Jeffrey Todd
3:37
Only that the asking price is way too steep for anyone that has checked.
Steven
3:39
Braves need to do something. Even if Acunas a stud and a couple of their pitchers develop into good starters, their offense wont compete with Washington. What can they do?
Jeffrey Todd
3:40
Well, there's no way the FO thinks the roster is going to compete with the Nationals in '18. If they went wild and mortgaged the future and convinced ownership to commit to some massive contract, maybe ... but that isn't happening.
Mike
3:40
Any chance Realmuto is dealt to the Nats?
Jeffrey Todd
3:41
Should've mentioned C when asked about Nats above, of course. Getting Realmuto seems like the best possible outcome for DC this winter.
Let's go O's
3:41
Zach Britton to D'backs for Patrick Corbin or Shelby Miller
Jeffrey Todd
3:41
Britton doesn't have any trade value now. It's more likely he's released. How can a team bet ~$12MM that he'll come back healthy and effective for just half of the season?
3:42
I feel like there's a reasonable path for Britton and the O's to reach some kind of 2-year deal, but that's not totally straightforward.
3:44
Evidently there's some made-up report suggesting Yu is going to Cubs. No indication of that from reliable sources.
