Hey all. Going to let the room fill and we'll get moving in a few ...
2:06
Okay off we go ...
Paul
2:07
Who should the Giants sign for center fielder
Jeffrey Todd
2:07
I think the Jarrod Dyson idea is a fine one, but I still feel they make a ton of sense for LoCain. Can understand why they aren't running up the market for him, but I wonder if they'll be there with a significant offer at the end of the day.

Would you trade Acuna straight up for Yelich?
Jeffrey Todd
2:08
Was I working for the Braves? No.
2:09
But there are probably scenarios where that's reasonable. Beyond the question of timing - do you need MLB production now?
-- it really depends just how much you love Acuna and whether you think there's a little more in the tank for Yeli. I'm sure reasonable minds could differ.

What would the Angels have to give up to land Yelich, and what could they get in a separate trade for Kole?
Jeffrey Todd
2:09
This just seems awfully complicated to pull off.

Not much smoke and much less fire for the Brew Crew, what's going on at Miller Park?
Jeffrey Todd
2:10
Ummmm somebody didn't read their MLB Trade Rumors today.
Maybe I just get more excited about Ernesto Frieri than the average Brewers fan.
2:11
But really, they can be patient. And obviously that's part of the plan. I do think the funds are there from ownership if the FO finds a move it wants to make.
Bravos
2:11
Do u see the braves trading for josh Harrison or yelich by the start of the year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:12
I get Yelich interest but Harrison? That's not a really sensible target for me ... already have young utility types and he's not super cheap. He makes more sense for a team that really expects to contend in '18.
Oh and I don't think they are particularly likely to get Yelich, either, though it's possible.
[Since I always get accused of east coast bias, I'm now scrolling for west coast questions ...]

For fun, who would you like to see targeted as a big FA signing for the Padres next off season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:13
I'll lean starter ...
Clayton Kersh--naw that's not realistic ... hmmm ...
2:14
Does Garrett Richards count? He's my choice.
Nic
2:14
Do you see anything else happening with the white sox this offseason? Or do you think Trade deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
Lean trade deadline on deals for their veterans. But who knows with this weird market?

Mozeliak cannot be serious about gregerson closing.  Talk me off the ledge here.  The cardinals closer isn't yet on the team right?
Jeffrey Todd
2:15
You should back away from the ledge. Of course they'd say that.
Still lots of options out there for STL
DH?
2:16
Hey Jeff, what's your thought on the DH going to the NL?

Were the Phillies foolish for jumping on Carlos Santana so early in the off season? Seems like they may have gotten him cheaper if they waited.
Jeffrey Todd
2:17
Not sure of that. There seemed to be a crescendo of interest in him.
Mike
2:18
Angels!!! what SP are they going to add? What's your Gut say?
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
John Lackey?
2:19
That would be fun at least, right? I mean ... I don't know that they are going to feel compelled to drop a big contract on a starter. I'd tend to anticipate a shorter-term veteran type. Like Lackey, not that it's likely. Jaime Garcia?

Any way Padres would move Hand or Pirates move Rivero now that they have extended them?  What would it take?  Seems like they could get quite a bit for them.
Jeffrey Todd
2:19
In the future, sure, but it's one of those things that you just don't see happen. Imagine future extension negotiations ....
2:21
By the way, both of those contracts made my eyes pop. I am never going to hate on a player for locking in his money, to be clear, but boy are they team-friendly. These aren't just regular old good closer types -- both guys are shutdown lefties, top 5 in baseball in that regard.
Mike
2:22
Josh Harrison to the Mets for Brandon Nimmo? Any thoughts on that or are there other teams  inquiring about him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Seems like a sort of a thing those teams could work off of if there isn't bigger interest elsewhere?
2:23
BTW since when is Nimmo such a hot commodity? It's sort of funny to see him talked about in these terms when the Mets just signed Jay Bruce to more or less lock him out of playing time for the foreseeable future.
