twins claimed david hale- who is he, was he every a regarded prospect? does he have value to the bullpen?
Jeffrey Todd
3:47
Probably will give them some innings for a while and, unless he thrives, end up back on the wire.
AJ Preller
3:47
Do I extend Freddy Galvis?
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
Can't really see why that'd be a real consideration.

Mets should lock up Thor and deGrom now and then look for outside help with this rotation.  Wheeler/Matz/Harvey arent cutting it.  Guesswe'll see what Vargas does.  Any SP's that might be available for them (something they can afford, prospect/player wise) mid season to help out?
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
Extensions for those guys will cost a ton, not that they aren't deserving, and wouldn't change the current rotation makeup.
3:49
Mets will have tough choices to make with somewhat limited prospect capital if they feel they need to make a splash in the rotation. But plenty of time to see if that's really necessary.

Luke Weaver looked absolutely dominant through spring training and his first few starts, but then threw up a couple of clunkers. In your opinion, does he live up to the hype and become a top of the rotation piece or just a serviceable back-of-the-rotation type guy?
Jeffrey Todd
3:50
Couple substandard outings shouldn't move the needle much. Looks like a long-term rotation piece to me.

Solution to the service time problem is to pay and treat minor league players humanely
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
Not going to disagree with that. And I do think a lot of the sort of controversial things that have arisen -- early career extensions, companies buying future salary rights -- relate to the poor pay for minor leaguers.
The service time / promotional timeline issue would still exist, though. Perhaps it just wouldn't be quite as pronounced.

Why don't you guys do a Facebook live thing?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
Is that, like, the same thing you do otherwise but on facebook? I don't use facebook honestly.
3:54
Would you chat like usual but get to see a video of me staring at the computer while typing?
Seriously ... just don't know what the benefits would be but I'm open to hearing them!
Acuna Matata
3:54
Think the person that caught my first homer will give it back to me?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Well now this is a tougher question for that dude who caught it than it would be if, say, it was Jeter's 3k hit. Acuna doesn't have hundreds of millions in his bank account.
The Jeter guy I will never understand. If Jeets didn't hook that dude up with some serious cash behind the scenes ... not cool.
3:56
Of course we also don't know the ultimate value of the Acuna ball, but it could be pretty high. To the poll!
Would you give Acuna his HR ball back?

Yes (71.1% | 118 votes)

No I'd sell it right away (7.2% | 12 votes)

No I'd hold it in hopes of future riches (21.7% | 36 votes)

If not Kopech, what could the White Sox be thinking with the open 40-man roster spot they created by outrighting Casey Gillaspie?
Jeffrey Todd

Spare arm to get through the weekend.
Charles Finley
3:58
Why are we concerned if Hoz gets paid?  Better than the alternative of him not getting paid and Padres ownership just pocketing extra cash.
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
But somebody asked me what the biggest overpay was, and the amount spent on player A impacts what a team can do with other players. Otherwise, sure, let him have the money, doesn't matter to me.

I want ties in baseball.  Historical records say each team would average 4 ties a year if the game were to end after 12 innings.  Why is this not a thing?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
I demand attrition.

Top 5 for AL MVP at season's end (no particular order): Trout, Ohtani, Gregorius, Altuve, Judge
Jeffrey Todd
4:00
I'll take Trout, Betts, Judge as my top 3 candidates

Do you expect the O's to completely tear down if they trade Britton, Machado, etc. or could they just build around Bundy, Schoop, Sisco?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
Schoop just has one more year til FA, so he is probably the bigger question than Bundy, Sisco, Givens, et al.  Seemed they were fairly deep in extension talks, so ... ??? This is also the Orioles, so ... ???
If Schoop gets back and plays well and could command a significant return, it'll be a good question. I don't know what the O's will do, but you could certainly argue in that case they'd be wise to deal him.

Is Iglesias the only player the reds can trade for a decent return or can gennett bring a mid level prospect back
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
Wouldn't expect much for Scooter. Suarez and Barnhart are probably their most valuable assets other than Raisel but I don't see those two guys being marketed.
Votto, of course, remains mostly not worth discussing given his huge contract and NTC.

Who is going to win the NL Central and why?
Jeffrey Todd
4:05
I'll take the Cardinals because Jose Martinez.
4:07
He honestly looks more like Happy Gilmore's caddy should look than the actual guy who played the caddy.
