I haven't gone back to study it, but it sure feels like there's more business getting done in the run-up to the deadline than usual.
3:17
If Happ gets wrapped up, that'd be 7 of top 13 guys on the list we put out like a week ago: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/top-50-mlb-trade-candidates-2.h...
3:18
Anyway ... thanks for bearing with the delayed start (had to finish the Nats post I just published) and please note I may have to step aside for a bit if the news goes haywire.

Chances that Jordan Zimmerman will get moved?
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
Minimal. NTC and cost make for a huge barrier. And he has a ways to go to show he's really going to be useful.

Thoughts on the Happ deal?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
If completed ... seems solid for Jays, if they are looking to bounce back into contention. Of course, there are only so many solid but low-ceiling guys you can put onto a roster that you really expect to win, but they have some big upside coming through the system, too.

Do the cubs pick up anybody?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
Appear to be rather serious on Hamels. He would really only cost money, so that helps.

If the Giants are buyers, who do you see them going after?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Y'know, I am just confused by the Giants right now. There's a report they may have some interest in Adam Jones. I mean ... okay, but he's super expensive and not really that much of a hitter at this point. Were they really lining up things to make that the move?

Who do the Braves trade for Stroman
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
"The Braves and Blue Jays have spoken about a possible Stroman trade, sources said Thursday, although there's no evidence of progress in those negotiations."
3:24
This is what Morosi wrote
Doesn't seem all that serious to me.
But you know the Jays would want quality, near MLB SPs.

Any chance Harper gets traded?
Jeffrey Todd

It is growing on me
3:26
I think it would be really weird for the Nats to deal away relievers and keep Bryce. I mean, that's probably too high a number. But ... if you're going to save some money and cost yourself a decent chunk of whatever remaining chance you have of getting back into things, then why not go all out and put yourself in a good position for next year? Just b/c of what it might mean for possibility of re-signing him? Meh.

God what a brutal trade for the Jays....
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Not sure what you were hoping for out of Happ. He has been really good of late, sure, but he's not exactly a clear top of the rotation guy and is old and is not cheap and is a rental.

Hunter Pence finally hit his first homer of the season in Seattle, potential trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
By that reasoning, shouldn't the Giants suddenly believe he is back to being vintage Hunter Pence?

Hola.  Adam Jones next for the Orioles?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Or Brach, probably.

How do you grade the Joakim Soria trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:29
Depends how you view Medeiros, obviously. And we also don't know how much cash is changing hands. But generally, it's in range of what I'd have anticipated. You're not getting a huge prospect for a rental guy, even one who's throwing as well as Soria. Medeiros could still be a future SP or possibly a really good reliever.

Is the 2018-2019 free agent class beginning to look disappointing, at least relative to how it's been hyped up? Thanks, Jeff!
Jeffrey Todd
3:30
Relative to its former promise, yes, very much so.
Still good and deep though.

Who should the Cardinals pick up for the bullpen?
Jeffrey Todd
3:31
Hmmm I was wondering today whether they'll end up flipping Bud Norris.

3:32
I'm not sure if the Astros actually NEED a left-handed relief pitcher, but if they think they do, they're options are running thin...without including Whitley, Alvarez, or Tucker, do you see them making any impactful additions to the bullpen?
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
No, dont' need, strictly speaking. But there are still options. Blevins, Diekman, and Duke.
3:33
I still am intrigued by the idea of the Astros or Red Sox going wild for Felipe Vazquez. Not sure that BOS can make it happen, or that HOU would, but it would be fun ... Bucs could then turn around and get a different closer. (I mentioned this totally speculative idea in the post on their interest in Kela.)
Again: this is something that exists in my head only.

If things really fall, could Harper be moved in august?
Jeffrey Todd
3:36
Theoretically possible b/c he is quite expensive. Can't really assume that, though, and if they end up keeping him in large part b/c they want to retain him long-term, then that reasoning would still apply. Return likely wouldn't be very compelling in August, esp b/c some team would claim him.

Any thought to updating the trade candidates when they are actually dealt? At least maybe put it in red or somehting implying theyve already been traded so we can see who is left?
