Hey! Thanks for joining the chat.

You know the drill: you leave questions, I start answering them in a few minutes.
About 20 minutes later, some among you start accusing me of ignoring you and/or hating your favorite team.
3:13
It's okay ... those of you who will accuse me of such things. Truly, I don't mind.
Mike
3:14
What will the Houston Astros starting rotation look like in 2019
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
A sculpture of a greek god
3:15
I mean ... subtract Keuchel, maybe re-sign Morton if he wants to stay on board (perhaps a great value for the club), and otherwise look for quality opportunities on the market. They will have a great staff one way or another, at least on paper.
Rox Done?
3:16
that is my question
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
It's not over. But yeah, probably.
3:18
Rangers are considering dumping Banister, per Jeff Wilson.
Just a random person
3:19
What's with the rockies offense? It seems they have some good players, but at the same time they're struggling
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
They have some marginal offensive players who are performing at approximately the anticipated levels. It's just not a great offensive club. That can be easy to gloss over b/c of the Coors boost.
IMO, Desmond should have been in the OF mix and they should have had a legit bat at first base this whole time. But that's just me.

Is there some sort of insurance on Kyler Murray's contract if he gets injured at Oklahoma?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Not sure about that, but almost certainly not. It's not like it's a huge amount of money for the team. The purpose of insurance is to cover a loss that would be debilitating. Losing his talent would hurt a ton, but not the actual investment. Plus, it's a bonus, not ongoing salary.

Playoffs are a crapshoot right? So any team has a good chance to win it all?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Not completely. The best team has the best chance, I think, or at least whatever team has the best postseason roster. But it's still baseball, and the difference between two really good teams might be one game in twenty. So, in five or seven game series ...
Kershaw

Do I retire wearing a Dodger uniform?
Jeffrey Todd

Kershaw a Dodger for life?

What would a return for Josh Harrison look like? Probably not much. It’s  safe to say that Frazier has run away with second base with the Kevin’s in the wings. Plus someone like Reyes could be a better fit as the super-U
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
More likely the option is declined, I'd say.

Mike Fiers trade looks good for both sides, no? Tigers a top 10 farm now?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Not sure the trade moves the needle that much on the Tigers farm, but it is on the rise for sure. And yes, I think the trade works for both.
Mets
3:28
Can we officially stop with the "DeGrom is 1A, and Syndergaard is 1B"? Degrom is 1, and Syndergaard can't stay healthy.
Jeffrey Todd
3:29
Okay fine, Wheeler is 1B
Look, it just doesn't matter. At all. They are what they are: very good.
It is all very Scherzer/Strasburg between Jacob and Noah, though, isn't it?
Melvin Joseph
3:30
The Mets have looked better in the second half. Wheeler, Conforto, Rosario and McNeil all showing their high ceiling of late. Cespedes will be a good in season return next year too. A bullpen and good luck with health have them making it back to postseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:30
Let's not go buying rings just yet.
But there are some good things and there's more reason for optimism than some might think.
Of course that was true last year as well ... but that doesn't mean it can't be different.
3:32
Can't really count on much from Yo. Still plenty of questions. Bullpen is highly questionable as is overall pitching depth. CF. And more. But they can fill some holes, and the developments you cite are very notable.

Matt boyd a trade target this offseason???
Jeffrey Todd
3:32
In the Dan Straily sense, sure.
Wouldn't go expecting another Luis Castillo, though.
John
3:33
Nick Markakis and Adam Jones reunite next year?
Jeffrey Todd
3:33
Yes.
The kicker?
It's in San Francisco.
3:34
(That's not some terrible attempt at a gay joke or something, btw. It's a poor Giants joke.)
