Howdy!
Ask some questions and I'll get to answerin' in a moment or two ...
Chris

Ellsbury at 3 years 21 million for cano at 5 years 24 million. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
Still feels like taking a lot of money to get Cano, but this isn't a wildly imbalanced scenario. M's would just clear a good amount of cash and Yanks would get a player who can play.
But Yanks are probably better off collecting insurance and wouldn't take that much extra for late-career Cano.
3:11
*take on that much extra money
Paul
3:11
What teams might be interested in Matt Holliday?
Jeffrey Todd
3:11
Should be an AL only player, really, so any AL team plus the Rockies I guess?
Not that he can't work on a NL roster, but it just makes more sense to have him in a DH role for at least a good portion of the time. I assume he'll only really be looking at a contender.
Jackson
3:12
Could the angels trade for Salvador Perez? What would a deal look like?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
I don't believe he is available. The Royals .... seem to think they can win soon, or something.
We'll see!
Mark from Tacony
3:13
What can we make of the USA Today report that the Phillies will land Bryce Harper?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
That is not how I would characterize that report. Nightengale said what a lot of people are saying, which is that a lot of  people are saying that Bryce seems like he may land with the Phillies.
3:14
It's not surprising that people are saying that ... but I don't think the fact that there's a lot of chatter from rival execs and agents makes it any more likely.
Among other considerations ... will the Nats be more motivated to up their offer if Bryce could be going to Philly? What if Manny is available at a cheaper price for the Phils and they pick him. Etc.
Mike
3:14
Outside of bullpen, what posistion players are Mets most likely in on?
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
Well, I think Van Wagenen said "every  free agent," so ...
I think catcher. Otherwise they are likely mostly looking at adding some part-time guys, preferably w some positional flexibility.
Hot Corner Hero
3:16
Assuming his production stays steady, what might a Freddie Freeman extension look like when his contract ends?
Jeffrey Todd
3:17
He'll be like 33, I think, so ... I don't expect he'll be in line for a massive new deal, given the way first basemen are valued these days. But if he's still churning out 140 wRC+ type seasons, then I guess there'll be some money still there ... 4-5 years at the going rate for high-quality hitters (whatever that will be) would be the ceiling, I guess.
Simon
3:18
It’s Carlos Gonzalez or Gerardo Parra a good options for the Giants?
Jeffrey Todd
3:18
They have much more significant questions on their roster, incl in the OF, before they really focus in on which reserve LHH OF they want to spend a little money on.
Cameron
3:19
What Shortstop should the Tigers sign?
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
I don't know that it matters all that much, honestly. Take your pick between the veterans who will be good leaders, good defenders, and mostly not-awful hitters ... Iglesias, Hechavarria, Mercer, Galvis.
3:20
They should be open to doing more, but who'd that be really? If they land someone they like via waiver claim or whatever, then great, but mostly they will likely be going for a gap filler.
Shane
3:21
Cubs and Braves trade SS? Good idea?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
That would be a terrible idea for ATL.
PATigersFan
3:21
Tigers trade Nicholas Castellanos this winter...  and next winter, as they inch closer to competing again...  they sign JDM as a free agent "first splash"??
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Signing aging sluggers is a tried and true strategy in Detroit, but ... not the likeliest scenario IMO. They still need to find quite a few pieces on that roster and odds are low they'll really do so in 2019.
Tom
3:23
Cubs/Braves seem like a match for a trade- Young OF for a Young SP. Thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
A more likely way for those two teams to deal, sure. Really would depend upon whether the Cubs want to make a change in the OF mix. It's possible to imagine something here, but hard to guess exactly what. You could imagine the Braves liking Schwarber or Almora but they also might like others better.
Patrick
3:25
What’s the trade market for Billy Hamilton?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
I think Hamilton is a guy who is actually almost undervalued by the general public. To be clear: he's not a regular CF. But he's a super useful guy who'd be a really fun asset for a team that could use him situationally.
Patrick
3:26
What’s the trade market for Scooter Gennett?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Much more likely to be extended.
Connor A.
3:27
So Nelson Cruz is gone from Seattle, right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:27
Seems safe to assume.
Scott
3:27
Rumor is that Padres are interested in Eugenio Suarez...what could Reds expect in return?
Jeffrey Todd
3:28
Not happening. No way. Listen to what Castellini and Williams are saying ... they want to build, they want to start winning. They just aren't going to move Suarez.
