"Mystery teams" that are the supposed high-bidder for Machado? That could only be leaked by Machado's agent to get the White Sox and/or Phillies to drive up their offers, right? Why else leak it?
Jeffrey Todd
5:29
Well, somebody also leaked a supposed 7/175 from the White Sox (which appears not to be a full picture of the offer). So ... everyone has reasons for shaping the market picture. I don't think that Machado's reps were necessarily specifically leaking info to drive up the Sox/Phils bids. And remember that leaks don't just come from agents. Believe me, I know that many do. But there are lots of people involved in this game and many of them get little bits and pieces of info.

Was it a straight Tuesday for Thursday trade? Or are there more pieces involved in the chat hot stove?
Jeffrey Todd
5:30
There are other future considerations involved in the arrangement that we are not prepared to disclose publicly at this time. I am confident that it is a good move in the best interests of the Todd Family. No more questions? Great then thanks for your time we'll see you at Spring Training.
Rocco Rox

Are the Rockies done? I don't think are any decent catchers left?
Jeffrey Todd
5:32
There are definitely options behind the dish. Maldonado, for one, and whoever ends up being displaced by a Realmuto trade, for another. Have to think the Rox are going to look for a way to do something there and in the relief corps -- just, maybe, at a real bargain price. Might be some good opportunities, we'll see.

Are these "chats" or "community interactive ramblings"?
Jeffrey Todd
5:34
They are opportunities for you to prompt me on ramblings.
I hope that's intended as a Gregg Jefferies pun, btw.
Les Gomez
5:35
Lagares for Jake McGee make sense for both?
Jeffrey Todd
5:36
Not a bad idea ... I tend to think the Rockies still feel they need the relievers and would want to take a shot on McGee bouncing back, but they could use a RHH OF piece that can play CF. Mets would love the relief arm but are kinda structured to utilize Lagares still (unless they really want to give Broxton a big shot).

The White Sox can’t be done, can they?
Jeffrey Todd
5:37
I don't think so. Another team that could check down from Manny/Bryce to Pollock, fwiw.

Do I still exist? Haven't heard my name once this offseason.
Jeffrey Todd
5:38
Not surprised. He's just not at the top of the corner OF list.
He'll have to decide between a bench role on a contender and a more robust shot at PT with a lesser team, probably.

Do you ever say anything insightful?
Jeffrey Todd
5:39
I'm deeply saddened : (
Go elsewhere for people who make things up and/or provide hot takes.

What would kerry wood do? Wwkwd
Jeffrey Todd
5:40
He'd blow a UCL or two, that's what Kerry Wood would do

You have the Pirates as a dark horse pick for the NL Central - what are you seeing that I'm not?  With the moves the other teams have made, the Bucs are well behind the pack.  Give me a few reasons to hope.
Jeffrey Todd
5:43
Well, I wouldn't read too much into that. It's as much about the limitations at the top of the division as the quality in PIT. They have a few younger guys who you could see really emerging. I don't know what they are projecting at but I'd assume it's at least within range of .500. So ... enough margin of error to see how that gets to 88-90 wins, with that possibly being competitive, etc.

5:44
What is next for the braves. What happened to the deal that was 70 percent done
Jeffrey Todd
5:45
Hmm ... I don't know. He did specify that it was a trade scenario. Shrug.
Shane

Surprised by lack of activity by Brewers?  Not sure career seasons of yellich an hader repeatable.
Jeffrey Todd
5:46
Well they got Grandal, which isn't nothing. Also indicated they extended payroll to do it. So ... bargain hunting, I guess, from here on out.

A "credible" tweet emerged Monday that Brewers were working on Greinke deal, trading two prospects around #10 in the system. Could it be?
Jeffrey Todd
5:47
Haven't seen that at all, but that's very very hard to imagine at that money unless Braun is going back. Just hard to see a match there for me, not that I'd ever count out a creative scenario.
5:48
Gonna grab a few more questions and then have to be on my way ...
Cleveland Grover
5:49
Kluber and Bauer aren't going anywhere, right?
Jeffrey Todd
5:49
Not ready to count that out yet,  but it's not something they necessarily have to do.

What has been holding up marwin Gonzalez?
Jeffrey Todd
5:51
Not sure it's a "what" scenario. Just ... he's probably still looking for a big, Zobrist-ish offer and it isn't out there at this time. May never be. One factor there is that Zobrist, say, was a guy targeted by multiple teams early. Players like that can be bid up quickly. Could have happened for Marwin but evidently did not. Not to say there might not be a lot of money out there but it is coming slowly. He'd be a fallback guy for some teams, like Pollock.

E Santana a target for SF?
Jeffrey Todd
5:52
Makes some sense on paper, sure.

Are we secretly in on machado or is his dad referring to  the qualifying offer
Jeffrey Todd
5:54
Really dont see a good fit there.

5:56
Why hasn’t Dallas K signed?  Asking for too many $$$$. I’d think there would be demand at a reasonable price.
Jeffrey Todd
5:57
As always, a multitude of factors. But he was a guy we always saw as facing a skeptical market. There are some major red flags. Of course, he's also still a very good pitcher who ought to get a big contract. Same could have been said for Ervin Santana years back when he settled for 1/14 with the Braves (only after an injury opened a rotation spot). Guys do fall through the cracks. We'll see how it shakes out.
