Barring a big surprise in his draft result, he gone.
3:38
If he goes near the top of the draft, the A's would have to offer him some outlandish money to even be competitive financially, let alone convince him to give up the sport he obviously prefers and a chance to play on the biggest stage in the near future.
3:39
Plus Murray is better off trying football first and keeping baseball in his back pocket as a check-down if it all falls apart.

Can you please answer this?

Yes.

Thanks for doing the chats. Love them. Do you think there will be any top tier starting pitchers available at the trade deadline this year? If so, who?
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
Greinke wouldn't be surprising. If things fall apart for the Mets, expect another round of Wheeler/deGrom/Thor/Matz chatter. Perhaps the Rockies could end up marketing one of their good young pitchers if they collapse or something. Indians if they collapse, though it's still hard to fathom they'd be out of the picture by mid-summer. Rays could end up as sellers. But perhaps the most interesting possibility is that Stroman is aces but the Blue Jays stink, and he ends up being a huge deadline chip.

Do you think any of the 4 free agents in your poll go unsigned by opening day?
Jeffrey Todd
3:45
It is late enough now that I think it's like 50/50 that one of those guys isn't signed by that point.
(Not saying 50/50 for each ... 50/50 that one of the four doesn't sign by end of the month.)

Odds the Giants call me for that OF help?
Jeffrey Todd

I would still love to see what he could do, right now.

What's the Phillies next move after Harper?  Phillies don't seem like a playoff team without another addition.
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
Going after Will Smith to be an ace lefty pen guy would be pretty appealing. Otherwise should be pretty willing to spend a lot annually on a short deal for Keuchel or Kimbrel.
Potter
3:50
Do you think free agency will be incredibly boring next year? Bogaerts is great but nowhere near as exciting of a name as Machado/Harper.
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
I think it could be a more interesting market even without the young stars. Lots of good, somewhat older players who stand to be out there.
Ethan
3:52
Kimbrel has been near Braves camp for a couple weeks. Why won’t AA give him a clubhouse key already?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
"Here is your key, Craig"

"Oh. Thanks. So about the fourth year and the $80 millio..."

"I SAID HERE IS YOUR KEY CRAIG"

Why has no one signed Big Sexy?  He's the GOAT!
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
Common misconception.
3:54
You don't sign Big Sexy. Big Sexy signs you.

Does Ausmus have the juice to sit Pujols when he's healthy?  Drop him way down in the order?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
He had better. They need to be able to use Ohtani at DH and have not-Pujols playing first base at times. Barring a turnaround -- heck even with it, given all the health issues -- Pujols shouldn't get 600+ PAs.

Who would win in a fight between you and Steve Adams?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
Ask Steve. If he says himself, then I will actually confront him physically and we will televise it for charity.

Can a MLB tam extend a player and lower their AAV? Ryan Zimmerman's AAV is burning a hole in their pocket and would let them add another bullpen piece if they could get it lowered by extending him and making him a National for life.
Jeffrey Todd
3:57
Well yeah, you can do that, but it has to pass the smell test for the league. Zim may be a National 4 Life just by playing out this season, honestly. We'll see how it goes.
3:58
Also ... the lux tax thing is just about money (unless you are in punt-a-pick range), and the Nats surely don't want to commit future money to Zimmerman, so ... not sure the math would add up.
Oh and they already owe him like $10M in the future under a personal services deal that was part of his extension. Think that is now prohibited.

Do you buy that the Orioles will not win as many as 60 games?
Jeffrey Todd

They entered last season trying to win and took home 47, so ...
