I haven't looked in detail but it would be interesting to see if there are more 4-6 week type IL stints for pitchers. Could indicate that there are more preventative measures being taken in cases where there are relatively slight issues but teams fear something bigger resulting?

I think some sort of cheat sheet or essential guide with links to more detailed explanations might be worth pursuing. If you are really curious, you should also check out Fangraphs' sabermetric library. I suppose it'd be useful to have some working knowledge of that major stats before jumping into that, but you can browse around and learn quite a bit.

Is there a match out there, maybe outfield excess for trade-able relievers between the Giants and the Astros?

Yeah if there is an earlier-season Giants move to be made, maybe it's one of their lesser but still useful relievers for a reasonably interesting but not prospect-y young outfielder. Like Dyson or Watson for Tony Kemp, that sort of scenario.

Mike Rizzo has made such bold and perceptive moves yet always seems to undervalue relievers. Goes for pure velocity: Henry Rodriguez, Eny Romero, now Rosenthal, of little or no value.

The same essential process unearthed Vazquez and Treinen ... while they didn't thrive until they were gone, they were used as important trade chips after being acquired for a song.
