So, yes, I almost forgot to chat again. Maybe I'm distracted as a DC-area native with the Nats going tonight? Or maybe it's the interesting new project we are working on at MLBTR? Or perhaps I'm old, given that I also nearly burned the house down when I left a pot of soup on the stove.
So many possibilities. But here we are. Ask questions and I will answer them.

So after such a humiliating first round exit what should be AA's top priority this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
7:32
Well the exit doesn't really tell us much about the needs. You already knew what they were, really, even if certain things were highlighted. The pitching obviously remains a priority, but the team can be opportunistic in large part in that regard. I think at least one veteran starter would make particular sense. But the most interesting questions are in the third base/corner OF realm. It'll be tough to get Donaldson back unless they are willing to go outside their true comfort zone, and tough also to trust Riley and the other young OFs with everyday duties from the jump. Some tough questions, still a big opportunity.

Is Anthopolous gonna QO me? I like Atlanta but will ownership give me 3/80?
Jeffrey Todd
7:32
Easy QO, yes. Not sure they'll have to go that high, and they won't if that is what it takes.
Disappointment
7:32
This Dodger season has to be one of the greatest disappointments in recent history comparable to the Mariners team that won 116 games right?
Jeffrey Todd
7:33
It's the nature of the game, you know? We go from a massive, repeat testing scenario of the regular season to wild, short series format.
I guess I try to enjoy them as two separate things, in a way.

Is it worst to lose 16 straight playoff games or to have never been to those games at all?
Jeffrey Todd
7:34
Which is worse

losing 16 straight playoff games (40% | 184 votes)

never having made the postseason in that stretch (60% | 276 votes)

Turner to first and sign Rendon sound realistic?
Jeffrey Todd
7:35
Doesn't sound very Dodgers-y

Your thoughts on a Betts for Bellinger trade?
Jeffrey Todd

wut
7:36
Look, the Dodgers are going to do their thing. They aren't going to fly off the handle. Maybe they extend in a direction that's a bit uncomfortable to try to get this thing dialed in for the postseason, but ... was that really the issue this year?
7:37
Let's not forget that they made very significant trade deadline acquisitions in each of the two prior seasons. (Yu/Manny) The one thing they could do that'd be going outside the comfort zone but relatively low risk? Big relief pitcher signings.
Even going nuts for Chapman, Will Smith, etc ... only so much money at stake.

Are you tired of Rendon questions yet?  Is it as bad as the deluge of Harper questions?
Jeffrey Todd
7:38
Ask me in March but no way it will be as bad as Bryce

7:38
Where will I sign this winter? And will it be a major league or minor league deal?
Jeffrey Todd
7:39
Anyone's guess where. I guess I'd lean MLB pact, b/c the ceiling he showed with the bat is intriguing, but there are lots of second base types out there this year. He'd probably make sense as a flier from a second-division team.

As a Nationals fan, what scares you about the Cardinals?
Jeffrey Todd
7:41
I'm not a fan at this point -- too much of my time is spent watching/reading/writing about baseball and it wouldn't be right -- but I still probably pay more attention to the Nats than any other team. And I was at the 2012 NLDS Game 5 meltdown. So ... Yadi Black Magic.
7:42
Really I think the Nats have a slightly better roster, but all bets are off with that bullpen and Yadi over there doing voodoo and whatnot.

Signing Cole, Roark, Donaldson and Grandal will get me extension? Buyout
Jeffrey Todd
7:43
Oh my that's a lot ... they'd go way over the luxury line this year and add a massive amount to the future. Add that group to any team and it'd suddenly look really good. Not sure it's realistic.

Does my 12M option get picked up?

Been leaning yes, followed by trade. Close one.

@DavidPSamson
Unreal that Daniel Hudson is on paternity list and missing game 1 of #NLCS . Only excuse would be a problem with the birth or health of baby or mother. If all is well, he needs to get to St. Louis. Inexcusable. Will it matter? #waittosee
Samson is such a pile of trash
That's just too ridiculous for words, truly.

Who do you think the Jay's target in trade/FA starter market
Jeffrey Todd
7:48
Would be nice to see them step up a bit in that regard ... need to add multiple arms if the team is going to move up the standings around the young core. Maybe a dark horse on Zack Wheeler? They'll surely be buying some buy-low types, including via trade, but should aim higher than they have in recent seasons. Alex Wood and Michael Wacha and Drew Smyly are at least younger reclamation projects. It'll take a mix of additions.

I'm rooting for the Nationals so that the Mariners are the only MLB team to never make the world series so I can complain more. Is that dumb?
