Don't call it a comeback! I've struggled to line up my regular chats but promise to do better in the new year.
I'll let the room fill and we'll get going shortly. Start dropping your best questions now!

What’s the latest on Donaldson? I’ve heard that it’s between the Nats and Twins right now, but the Braves are still in the mix.
Jeffrey Todd
8:25
That's about the lay of the land ... it has been quiet over the last week or so. You wonder if he really has strong 4-year offers in hand? Or whether the teams are still in a staring contest? Don't know!
8:26
But that's a key domino to fall, because it's going to be a big factor in the way the rest of the market unfolds. If the Twins miss on him, maybe they redouble efforts to get a big arm via trade. If the Nats miss, do they do a blockbuster swap for Bryant or Arenado? Etc.
8:27
Braves have a bit more flexibility, but they also seem to want a middle of the order bat ... they could fit a guy like Castellanos on their team. So lots of different possible aftermaths.

Your gut. Will Arenado be moved. If so, where does he go.
Jeffrey Todd
8:27
Gut is no. I'd think Rangers would be likeliest, followed by Nats.
Tyler M.
8:27
Rangers done or they gonna add more?
Jeffrey Todd
8:27
More. 3B/CF/RP?

What would the Phillies have to give up for Arenado if they were willing to take on ALL of his salary and maybe Shaw or McGee as well
Jeffrey Todd
8:28
I feel like if the Phils wanted that kind of contract at 3B, they'd have been in on Rendon to a greater extent.
Tim

I heard a rumor they the cardinals and ozuna were close on a 3 year $84 mil dollar deal. Any truth?
Jeffrey Todd
8:29
I'd be floored if he got that kind of salary.

Any chance tigers will sign Puig or Dickerson? They could sure use the OF help.
Jeffrey Todd
8:29
I like them on Yasiel, yeah.

Naylor, Morejon & Quantrill for Clevinger. Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
8:30
Feels rather light. He's a stud.
8:31
The Indians are a huge wild card right now, BTW. Lindor and Clevinger, obviously, are huge chips. But what about Brad Hand? And Santana is another interesting guy.
I mean, we need to stop and appreciate how interesting things are right now.
8:32
Teams like the Dodgers, Angels, Mets, Nats, Rangers, etc ... all still lurking with loads of major possibilities.
As I wrote in our "remaining needs" thing on the Mets, that's a club that could say "we're done!" or turn over like a third of its roster before camp opens. Could still be reeeeeallly wild.

If I'm Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen I would give up my right arm for Brad Hands left arm. If the Indians want to trade him, what would it take? Dom Smith a good starting point?
Jeffrey Todd
8:33
Dom Smith is a useful piece of the puzzle, not sure about starting point.
Chaim Bloom

Will I make a big move this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
8:34
Ya see? I didn't even mention the Red Sox in the wildness. Still have to move salary. Price and/or JBJ at least. Beyond that, who knows? Bloom is surely going to consider all manner of creative possibilities.

With it sounding like the Braves not committing to 4 years to Josh Donaldson which third baseman do you think the Braves will trade for Kris Bryant or Nolan Arenado with cash?
Jeffrey Todd
8:35
Let's get one thing straight on Arenado: there's no way the Rockies are eating cash on that deal in terms of a valuation. What I mean is: okay, sure, if they were getting some mega stud young talent in return, maybe they'd consider hanging onto some salary to "buy" the players. But they most assuredly value Arenado higher than the cost of the deal, just one (good) season into it. They can't afford to think otherwise.

All Cub fans should boycott the convention. The Ricketts family are a joke to not make moves to compete. Thoughts?
Jeffrey Todd
8:36
Fans that feel that way definitely ought to vote with their wallets and express their views so that the connection is clear. It's the only way to send the message.
We've seen dwindling attendance ... now suddenly the moribund player market has broken out. Hmmmm
8:37
There has also been some breaking up of the ice from a competitive standpoint, to be fair. The Yankees and Astros are still really good but the AL teams have to compete at some point. And the NL is largely wide open.

Everyone on the planet knows the Angels need SP. but what are they going to do in RF and C?
Jeffrey Todd
8:39
1) Platoon mate with Goodwin until Adell is ready. 2) Castro is still a nice fit. Chirinos out there as well. Way outside shot of getting Contreras (my guess is he stays); players like Hedges/Barnhart could possible come available.

Lindor and Clevenger for Swanson, Pache, Newcomb, Wright, Touki.  Who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
8:39
Keep adding names, Alex.

I'm in the mood for a baseball movie: The. Natural or Bull Durham?
Jeffrey Todd

Feels like an old timey night ... The Natural

Can Scott Kingery handle the hot corner for a full season?
Jeffrey Todd
8:40
That's not the plan you want to have if you're trying to break free of a pack of teams with lots of talent.
