It's Chaturday, so let's chat!

Any thoughts on where maybin will land? Have heard nothing about him and he was great last year
Mark P
8:33
Hard to say, I expect teams still see him as a fourth outfielder/depth type, last season's nice numbers notwithstanding.  We might not see him land somewhere until Spring Training, possibly if an injury crops up to a starter.
Dwayne T Robinson
8:34
Will Liberty Media release more funds to get JD?
Mark P
8:35
I'd assume the Braves wouldn't still be in the hunt if they couldn't afford him, so I'd guess some extra payroll has been approved.  Ownership has said all along that they'd be willing to raise payroll if revenues went up, and with the team in contention, there's certainly an argument to be made that now is the time to strike.  No better way to sell tickets, luxury boxes, and raise TV ratings than to put a World Series contender on the field
ROY
8:36
Prove me wrong: the AL ROY is an Oakland A's SP.
Mark P
8:36
Luis Robert might have something to say about that, but there are a lot of nice arms out there in Oakland
Michael
8:37
Do you think the Braves should turn to plan B over waiting for Josh Donaldson since other options are running out to force Donaldson's hand?
Mark P
8:38
The Braves technically have a Plan B already in place in Riley or Camargo at 3B.  Plus, their big-picture Plan B might be Kris Bryant, and there's a waiting game going on with him as well due to his service-time grievance

Would the potential trade package from the Cardinals net them Arenado?
Cards
8:38
Any truth to this 4 for 1 for Arenado that was being rumored earlier today? I'm personally not buying it
Tieran
8:38
What did you think about the Carlos Martinez, Dakota Hudson, Matt Liberatore, and Tyler O’Neill proposal for Arenado?
Mark P
8:39
Some context, as WSCR's Bruce Levine mentioned this rumor on the radio --- https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/mlb-rumors-could-cubs-acquire-n...
8:40
I have my doubts St. Louis would give up that much for Arenado unless they're able to convince him to waive his opt-out clause.  That's a hefty package of talent for just two years of guaranteed time with the Cards
Mitchell
8:40
Any chance of Cleveland coming in to get Castellanos/Osuna? They need some impact outfielder.
Mark P
8:41
My guess is that both are out of the Tribe's price range.  Cleveland has been focused on cutting payroll the last two years, rather than adding any more big contracts
Pujols
8:42
Should I retire?
Mark P
8:43
And walk away from $59MM?  I realize Pujols has already made several lifetimes' worth of fortunes in baseball, but that's a major chunk of change to just hand-wave away
StL
8:43
Thoughts on the Rays and Cardinals trade?
Mark P
8:44
I think I like it more for St. Louis than I do for Tampa, since the Cardinals were able to land a very nice pitching prospect for, essentially, spare parts.  Not that Arozarena and Martinez aren't good players, but they were superfluous for the Cards.
There's enough upside in Martinez and Arozarena that the Rays can certainly benefit both in 2020 and in years to come, so I don't mind their end of the deal either
The Oregonian
8:45
Not too long now before pitchers and catchers report. Any last-minute additions for the Giants? Castellanos still out there, or maybe a Brock Holt-type?
Mark P
8:45
I'm a little surprised Holt is still out there, I figured a lot of teams would jump on a multi-position guy like that.  He'd be a fit in San Fran and probably a dozen other teams.  At this point, it'd be a surprise if Castellanos ended up in SF

8:47
Do Almora, Happ, or Schwarber deserve interest from other teams?
Mark P
8:48
"Deserve"?  Sure, why wouldn't they?  Schwarber is a legit MLB hitter, Happ is only a year away from being a top prospect, and Almora was at least a solid bench type before going through his brutal 2019 season
Kyle
8:49
Do you think the Cardinals will move another outfielder? I've heard several people talk about Dylan carlson having a role with the team this year but would seem like there is too many outfielders? Any chance they move one in a deal for arenado?
Mark P
8:50
The Cardinals rarely just hand a job over to a player, even a top prospect.  Carlson will play this year barring something unexpected, but he will probably just get eased in on a part-time basis rather than be expected as an everyday guy from day one
8:51
As to a future OF deal....maybe.  Their current outfielders are Fowler, Bader, Thomas, O'Neill, Carlson, Justin Williams, and all of Edman/Munoz/Rangelo can also pitch in on the grass.
Matt Klentak
8:52
How do I handle the JT Realmuto situation as far as giving him a contract extension and this arbitration mess?
Mark P
8:53
(Klentak = Phillies GM)

"Mess" seems like an overstatement.  I wouldn't be surprised, in fact, if the Phillies and Realmuto reach a long-term extension (as has been discussed all winter) before a hearing
Jason
8:55
Do You Think Red Sox will trade either Price or Betts?
Mark P
8:55
No to Betts
Probably 55-45 in favour of "yes" on a Price trade
Jeter
8:55
Fish have a great farm. Which Marlins prospect do you think will have the biggest impact this year?
Mark P
8:56
Hard to gauge "biggest" impact, though I'll be interested in seeing what Monte Harrison can do if/when he reaches the MLB level in 2020.
Doug
8:57
If the ruling on Bryant's service time says he still has two years till free agency, do you think the Cubs will trade him?
Mark P
8:58
My guess is yes, just because he might be the one least likely to be extended.
(I base this on the Boras connection, and admittedly not much else.)

What is the likelihood of the Reds acquiring a SS? Likelihood that it’s Seager?
Mark P
9:00
Bringing in another SS for Spring Training, absolutely.  Likelihood that it's Seager seems small, unless the Dodgers swing a trade for Lindor or something.

Are the Twins trying to extend Berrios
