First chat of February, so pitter patter, let's get at 'er

Are the sox going to trade Mookie?
TV's Steve Adams
9:22
Mookie: staying or going?
Carlos R
9:22
Chances Betts gets traded?
Mark P
9:22
Immediately we get a flood of Mookie Betts questions!  At this point, I'd say the chances are better than 50-50 that Betts is dealt.  It seems like there's pretty decent momentum towards a deal....whether that deal puts Betts in San Diego, or Dodger Stadium, or somewhere else is TBD

Whats the next move for the Reds?
Mark P
9:24
I still find it hard to believe that they'll roll with Freddy Galvis as their everyday shortstop.  No knock on Galvis, but you'd think a contender would want more at least another depth option in place
Thomas
9:25
How suprised would you be to see the Rays make a World Series run
Mark P
9:25
Not surprised at all.  They have a very talented, very deep team
Mark
9:25
Why hasnt anyone grabbed up t. Walker?  Guys seems like hed fit in on a lot of teams.
Mark P
9:26
This would be Taijuan Walker, btw.  My guess is that he might be unsigned BECAUSE he fits on a lot of teams...he may be juggling a number of offers and seeing if anyone steps up with more guaranteed money

What is the floor and ceiling for the diamondbacks this year? I have to assume its higher with the addition of Marte...
Mark P
9:27
Overtaking the Dodgers might be a tall order still, but the D'Backs should definitely be strong wild card contenders
Ryan
9:27
Any update on the Ellsbury contract dispute?
Mark P
9:28
No word yet

9:28
Should the Twins worry about the White Sox?
Mark P
9:28
Absolutely.  Chicago has made its roster a lot better
Marte
9:29
Thoughts on the Indians pursuing Starling Marte given their payroll situation.
Mark P
9:30
It would've been absurd if they hadn't asked about Marte, given the reasonable amount of money he is due to earn in 2020 (and in 2021, via his club option).  Not sure what they offered Pittsburgh or why the Bucs opted for Arizona's offer, but don't forget, the Tribe are still trying to win games in 2020.  They're not in rebuild mode by any stretch
Big Red Machine part deux
9:31
How do you envision the Reds handling their OF this season? Surely they didn't pay Castellanos and Akiyama to be part-time players. Senzel, Winker, Aquino and Ervin (v LHP) all deserve playing time.
Mark P
9:32
If I had to guess, and this is purely speculative on my part, one of those four OFs you mentioned will be traded before Opening Day.  Aquino or Ervin more likely to be moved than Senzel or probably Winker, but Cincy has such a surplus that I could see them moving someone for a shortstop.

That said, don't forget that Akiyama has never played an inning of Major League ball.  The Reds might want a bit of depth on hand in case Akiyama has a tough transition to MLB
JP
9:33
Thoughts on Rockies owner saying they'll win 94 games? Over/under?
Mark P
9:34
Can't blame the guy for being optimistic about his team, but....94 wins?!  84 wins might be a stretch
Jake
9:34
Do you think Senzel stays in Cincy?
Mark P
9:35
My guess is yes, since teams generally don't part with those types of elite top 5/top 10 prospects so quickly, if at all.
9:36
That said, the Reds' handling of Senzel pretty much since day one has seemed odd to me.  You have to wonder if learning all these new positions is really what's best for Senzel's development

Will the Cubs be able to sign more than Baez to an extension? If so, who else might they lock up?
Mark P
9:37
I'm not even 100 percent sure they extend Baez this offseason.  Signing him to a deal now would bump up his AAV and luxury tax number, so I could see the Cubs waiting until next winter to really go full-on in extension talks.  That said, things could change if they actually pull off a deal and free up some payroll space
Ivan Nova
9:38
The Pirates missed out on me, with such a low payroll should they make a deal for David Price and prospects?
Mark P
9:39
I really can't see the Pirates taking on Price's contract.  He'd immediately be taking up a third of their payroll.  Unless Boston was willing to give up their best 2-3 minor leaguers to sweeten the pot (which they wouldn't), there's zero chance of the Bucs doing that deal
Phil
9:39
Giving the Phillies need for pitching do you think it would have been wise to just keep Franco and not sign gregorius and use that money for pitching help hello
Mark P
9:40
Depends on how many other pitchers were interested in coming to Philly.  Plus, I think the Phils were just ready to move on from Franco, who has been a pretty middling player
AA
9:41
Riley, Wright, Toiki/Bryce Wilson for Bryant.
Mark P
9:41
No way the Braves do that
Jason
9:41
Is there a big move still coming for the Rangers? They haven’t spent all that new stadium money they supposedly have.
Mark P
9:42
I wouldn't count them out on Bryant, now that his neverending grievance has finally been decided.
Keith
9:42
If the Sox trade David Price do you think they should add King Felix on a minor league deal. Do you think they should anyway to replace porcello. He's still young-ish right?
Mark P
9:42
King Felix already signed with the Braves a couple of weeks ago
AA thoughts
9:42
If i wanted to get Devers from Boston, what would i have to give up? Pache, Wright , Anderson and Lagelier?
Mark P
9:43
(AA = Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos)

If there's any Red Sox player that's untradeable, Devers is probably it.  Boston isn't moving him
