Connor Byrne

Hey everyone. We'll get started in a couple of minutes.
Tom S.
6:04
8 games for Kelly seems pretty harsh!
Connor Byrne
6:06
it seems a bit excessive during a 60-game season. I really don't think the pitch to Correa (offspeed, mind you) was intentional during a 2-run game with 2 men already on. Not sure about the fastball to Bregman, though.

Should roster sizes be expanded now?
Connor Byrne
6:06
Yeah, I think it makes sense with the disastrous way things have unfolded so far.
Nikk Marcakehiss
6:06
Why did I change my mind, especially after seeing what happened to the Marlins?
Connor Byrne
6:07
Markakis indicated he missed playing too much to stay away.

Do you bet on MLB games? If so, what source do you put the most stock in for your picks?
Connor Byrne
6:07
Used to, but not for a couple years now. Not planning on returning to it.

Whats going to happen to some of the current free agents like Salazar, Trumbo, Gennett?
Connor Byrne
6:09
Trumbo already seemed to be leaning toward retiring last year. Haven't heard anything about Salazar, but if he wants to play, you'd think he'd get a minors deal if he does. Latest on Gennett came way back in May: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/05/scooter-gennett-free-agent-fine...

Do you think there be any sellers at the trading deadline? With more teams making players.
Connor Byrne
6:10
Yes, but fewer sellers. There will still be some bad teams that are way out of it. Look at NBA/NHL - they let half their teams into the playoffs and there are still deadline deals.

How severe must one team or series of teams getting Covid will call for serious changes? Miami number of players concerning....
Connor Byrne
6:11
Rob Manfred said it would take a team being "non-competitive." Hopefully, we won't find out what he means by that.
Sighern
6:11
Continue to DH Cespedes every game or mix in Dom Smith every once in a while?
Connor Byrne
6:12
Mix in Smith. He's a good hitter and Cespedes will need some off time after a couple injury-ruined seasons.

What's the latest on the additional rules changes MLB and the players union are considering?
Angels fan
6:13
Does Andrelton Simmons’ latest injury lower the chances of the Halos bringing him back next year? I’d like to see them extend him but with all these ankle injuries the last few years, I’m having second thoughts.
Connor Byrne
6:13
The flip side is that they might be able to get him for cheaper than expected if he misses a lot of time. They should at least consider re-signing him.
Eric Scot
6:14
I think saying "disastrous" isnt how I would describe what happened with the Marlins. A bit unfortunate and some changes had to be made but not "disastrous". False Narrative.
Connor Byrne
6:15
I think it's pretty disastrous when a team loses so many guys that it has to take an entire week off, and its situation leads to other teams (Yanks, Phils) postponing multiple games.

My Pads are hot... is it more likely to see Gore and Patiño if the Padres stay hot or call them up if we get cold?
Connor Byrne
6:15
I'd say so, especially with 16-team playoffs. The Padres finally have a real shot, it seems.
Roxie
6:16
Don’t look now, but which team has the lowest ERA in all of baseball?
Connor Byrne
6:16
I'm not looking, so wild guess: Rangers. How about that Lance Lynn signing?
Joe
6:16
Folty to Giants yes or no?
Connor Byrne
6:16
Sure, why not? Lots of teams should be in on Folty, despite the velo drop.

Kelly suspended for 8 games, but not a single Astros player suspended for even a single game for cheating their way to a World Series championship. What’s your reaction to that?
Connor Byrne
6:17
To paraphrase Phil Leotardo, my estimation of Rob Manfred as a commissioner continues to plummet (I've been rewatching The Sopranos for the umpteenth time)
Artie P
6:18
The Redsox starters are PUTRID??? Do you consider them the Worst in baseball right now???
Connor Byrne
6:18
They have to be in the discussion. There's no one who inspires confidence with Sale and E-Rod down. It doesn't help that some of their best hitters have gotten off to slow starts, either

S.Ohtani is obviously an anomaly.  Last year he came back from TJ surgery and hit very well.  I’m concerned that he might have some pitching growing pains which is normal but seeing how it might affect his bat being that he doesn’t get to get into the mental game defensively to distract him.  What are your thoughts on the first week of Ohtani?
Connor Byrne
6:19
It's one week and he's coming back from major surgery (as a pitcher). Not worried.
Nate Pearson
6:19
Am I more highly touted than Mize now?
Connor Byrne
6:19
Yes

What is going on with the Rays???  No Meadows yet they are en fuego!
Connor Byrne
6:20
They're loaded with good players. One guy going down - even someone as good as Meadows - won't stop them. They won 96 games last season despite some serious injuries (Glasnow and Snell, for instance; I think B. Lowe also missed a lot of time)
