Connor Byrne

Sure, he is. He just appeared in 130-plus games in three straight seasons with arguably the deepest team in baseball
Adam
7:19
If Mookie decides not to play, do the Dodgers get an "extra" year of control? Trying to figure out how they can still win this trade...
Connor Byrne
7:19
More Dodgers. No, he'll be a free agent at season's end.
Trent Hauser
7:20
Wait, are we forgetting that Epstein built great farm systems not once but twice? The 2005 draft is probably still one of the best ever
Connor Byrne
7:21
I didn't mean to imply Epstein's incapable of doing so. Just saying he's one of the last executives I'd complain about.
Alex
7:21
Do you see Clarke Schmidt having a sizeable role on this Yankees team this year? Seems like he'd be the first one in if Tanaka has to miss anytime or if any pitching injuries arise or the Yankees want to skip some of Happ's starts with that vesting option in mind?
Connor Byrne
7:22
He's going to get a chance to establish himself this year. I'm bullish on him.
Cruzin Along
7:22
Do you foresee Nelson Cruz coming back next year with the Twins or another team?
Connor Byrne
7:23
Cruz has no plans to retire in the near future: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/07/nelson-cruz-discusses-future-pl...

To follow up on my minor league ump question I’d like to see Joe West and some other older umps take 2020 off and let younger minor league umps take their place. I think the risks for a guy like West could be catastrophic.
Connor Byrne
7:24
I wouldn't let Joe West ump a tee-ball game
Zach
7:24
Angel Hernandez too
Connor Byrne
7:24
Agreed
Jack
7:24
Will spring training be delayed next year because of this years craziness?
Connor Byrne
7:25
Not that I know of, but that's going to depend on the virus (as pretty much everything does nowadays; fun times!)
Gary
7:25
If Mookie ops out he will not receive service time for 2020 unless he is deemed "high-risk"
Connor Byrne
7:25
Correct.
7:27
Actually, i misread your comment. Mookie would still be a free agent in a year if he opts out and is not high risk. He wouldn't get a salary, though.

Will Dusty Baker get the job done in Houston?
Connor Byrne
7:30
As in, win a WS? It would be nice to see for someone who hasn't been able to get over the hump, but he's inheriting a team most fans hate and the roster's worse than it was. He'll have a tougher road than Hinch did.

Who is the best umpire that you have seen?
Connor Byrne
7:31
Never thought about it. Jim Joyce was universally respected, despite the Armando Galarraga catastrophe. Any ump who's competent and doesn't try to make the game about him is good by me.
Rudy
7:32
Who is Twins' ace?
Connor Byrne
7:32
Berrios
A or B

Who makes a playoff appearance first, Orioles or Marlins?
Connor Byrne
7:32
Marlins
Hopeful Halo
7:33
what do you make of Teheran’s absence?
Connor Byrne
7:34
I'm pretty sure he has been dealing with the virus, so I hope he gets back to normal soon.
Spanish-language link, but he's hoping to get back ASAP

Rays record prediction?

Can the Giants be a contender within the next three years?
Connor Byrne
7:37
Yes, because I trust Zaidi, but there's a lot of work ahead. It won't happen this year, barring some 60-game craziness.
They should go hard after Betts next winter, in my opinion. They did try for Harper a couple offseasons ago.
Maximus
7:39
Who is in Cubs rotation in 2021.  Wild hair guess?
Connor Byrne
7:39
Hendricks, Darvish, Alzolay come to mind. Depends in part on how much $ they want to spend otherwise.

Angels in the outfield is severely underrated
Connor Byrne

Haven't seen it in ages. Tell you what's severely underrated: Little Big League.
