Hi everyone, time for the first March Mar(k)ch(at)!

Let's move past that awful wordplay and get to some questions
Betts World
9:23
Do you see the Dodgers making one big final move with their loaded farm?
Mark P
9:24
Can't entirely rule it out, but I'm leaning towards no.  The Betts/Price deal will likely end up as their one truly big move of the offseason.  Not out of the question that they deal Stripling or Pederson, but probably not in any blockbuster trade

Will the padres be better then Arz this year?
Mark P
9:25
Who will be better this season?

Padres (29.6% | 413 votes)

Diamondbacks (70.4% | 984 votes)

Total Votes: 1,397

Do you see the Angels making any kind of move for pitching now that Canning is hurt?
Mark P
9:26
The Angels still needed pitching even with a healthy Canning, so I'm not sure his absence makes things more urgent on their end.  Seems like LAA will go into the season seeing how their current rotation develops and then make a trade at the deadline if more is needed

when do you think the ETA for Julio Rodriguez is
Mark P
9:27
My guess is 2021.  He hasn't even played Double-A ball yet, so expecting him in the Show by this season may be a stretch (not to mention service time reasons).  But, the sky seems to be the limit for Rodriguez, tons of potential
Tigers
9:28
What would it take Tigers to get Franco from the Rays and/or Dominguez from the Yankees? Thanks for the chat.
Mark P
9:28
In a word, nothing.
Joe Girardi
9:29
Any chance I take this team to the playoffs?
Mark P
9:29
There's a chance, sure.  A wild card isn't out of the question, though the Phils face a lot of competition in the NL

Any news on Red Sox / Padres trade?  Cal Quantril shipped out ?
Mark P
9:30
As of the latest reports from earlier this week, nothing was happening.

Question person
9:30
Will Yasiel Puig play an MLB game in 2020?
Mark P
9:31
Yes
Josh
9:32
With Torkelson and Gonsalez off the hot starts, who’s your prediction to go 1-1 in the draft this year?
Mark P
9:32
Right now I'd guess Torkelson, but a lot can happen over the course of the next few months
John
9:33
Chris Davis being hot to start the spring can’t be a bad sign right?
Mark P
9:33
Can't hurt, even though Spring Training stats should be taken with several grains of salt
A’s
9:35
Do you think trading Mateo and Barreto for Givens and a mid level pitching prospect from the Orioles would be a good deal for both sides or no?
Mark P
9:35
That seems like a pretty high price for a good but not great reliever
Brad T
9:36
I feel the Cardinals OF is the weakest in baseball. As a fan it's disheartening, am I wrong?
Mark P
9:36
There are more question marks than you'd like to see on a contending team, but not even close to "weakest in baseball" status
Pirates Fan
9:37
What direction are the pirates going in?
Mark P
9:38
They're essentially standing pat to see if Huntington, Hurdle, and the coaching staff were the problem over the last couple of seasons, not the talent level itself.  Once they get a better sense of how good they "actually are," they'll decide on whether it's more prudent to rebuild or reload (as much as a light-spending team can ever "reload")
Jay
9:39
Toronto needs ______ added to the 26 man roster to actually flirt with a wildcard spot...
Mark P
9:40
Mike Trout
9:41
Actual answer: the Jays need at least a couple of their younger guys to immediately play up to their big potential.  Right now they're counting on a lot of players they think will be good or are pretty sure will be good, but it's just a question of whether or not they'll be good as early as 2020
Michael
9:41
Do you think Carpenter will rebound from his horrible season or do you think he’s finished?
Mark P
9:42
"Finished" is a strong term, but I'm pessimistic about a big rebound season.  I think becoming a full-time 3B again is a bigger toll on Carpenter than the Cards thought it would be.
Mariners
9:43
Answer more mariner questions please. There hasnt been much said at all about them this year. Their looking like a bottom 3 club
Mark P
9:44
In fairness, there isn't much to be said about a bottom 3 (or maybe bottom five) club.  Looks like the M's have one more "reimagining" year to get through before they start to consider being competitive
Jethro
9:44
How worried should we be worried about Judge?
Mark P
9:44
With the Yankees' recent injury history, probably pretty worried
R. Grichuk
9:45
I hit 35 HRs this year playing CF...change my mind.
Mark P
9:46
Wouldn't be a big stretch
But I think the Jays would be happier to see bigger gains with the average and OBP than a few more homers
Brady Singer
9:47
Any chance for an extension like Luis Robert so I can break camp and avoid the service time game?
