Jeffrey Todd Helton

Next GM to be let go?
Jeffrey Todd
6:05
Hottest seats:
6:06
Bridich (Rox)
Preller (Pads)
Brodie (Mets)
Klentak (Phils)
Eppler (Angels)
6:07
I think, barring disaster, everyone else has at least a year of wiggle room. Dipoto/M's, Atkins/Jays, for example.
Brodie probably would as well but with the ownership change it may be do or die.
Bryan Shaw
6:09
Could I fit in DC with Suero and Elias down?
Jeffrey Todd
6:09
The Nats certainly are the land of misfit relievers, so sure.
Snarfle
6:09
Julio Franco: still just 30 years old.
Jeffrey Todd
6:09
in mind and body and heart, yes
Rockies
6:10
What are they thinking?
Jeffrey Todd
6:10
Hard to argue with releasing these guys now. Signing them in the first place ...
6:11
The curse of Boone Logan, man. These 3 year relief deals have been absolutely brutal for the Rox.
West Coast Mets Fan
6:11
after all the acrimony between owners and players I am not excited about the upcoming season. Try and convince me to change my position.
Jeffrey Todd
6:12
I get it. It didn't make me particularly jazzed either. But ... just think of it like this. The sides are supposed to haggle. The fact they were negotiating was normal and fine. They were just stupid for trying to feed it into the media. Otherwise, we're back to square one.
6:13
And maybe it's time we just sit back and let something fun happen. So far it has been reasonably safe by all outward appearances. If by some miracle they can pull off the season without spreading covid all over ... let's enjoy it. November is sure to be calamitous.
Bryce
6:14
Do you think we will have SOME fans in the stands before season end? My State(Kentucky) allowed 5000 in a small stadium to watch soccer last week
Jeffrey Todd
6:14
I think some teams will, yes. Obviously heavily dependent upon local government decisionmaking.
BAD
6:14
Seems like the Mets have been for sale forever. Do you really see a deal getting done (sale completed) anytime soon?
Jeffrey Todd
6:15
Nah, it's just that they had a deal and it fell apart. There was no prior indication of that one. Just didn't work out. So then everyone knew they were up for grabs.
Otherwise, they've just launched a typical bid process. It's all moving through planned stages.
Braves Fan

Love your chats!  Thanks for holding them.
Jeffrey Todd
6:16
Thanks! You obviously haven't been in my prior chats where I was accused of anti-Braves-ism, haha.

6:16
Daniel Bard and Ubaldo bouta be the Rockies setup crew. sign me up
Jeffrey Todd
6:17
Unfortunately they parted ways with Ubaldo, but yes. Bard will be fun to watch, one way or another.
matt m
6:17
can't forget Mike Dunn
Jeffrey Todd
6:17
and Wade Davis, yep. I think that's all of the 3 year deals. All total disasters.
6:18
(all of the reliever disasters ... there are others, of course)
H. A.
6:19
If you are a new owner stepping in... is the next offseason a good time or bad time to do so with all the uncertainty?
Jeffrey Todd
6:20
You'd think the tumult would create more creative opportunities for someone with a different perspective. In that regard, perhaps there's more opportunity?
Rockies man
6:20
But how can a couple of teams allow fans if not all 30 teams can also have fans?
Jeffrey Todd
6:21
It's all local $. Same reason some teams own surrounding real estate rights and others don't. Get whatcha can.
OttaBTeaching
6:21
Oh...you are anti-Braves...we just love finding all the times you are. haha
Jeffrey Todd
6:22
I definitely am anti-chop, I will say that! And I have had my qualms with certain things. But I enjoy their great players as much as anyone else.
Mr Roctober
6:22
You are being anti-player when you call those deals disasters.  The players got paid!
Jeffrey Todd
6:23
I didn't say the players were wrong for taking the money. Or even that they were necessarily bad decisions at the time. But results are results. They were disasters.
6:24
Okay folks I am going to have to run! Gotta get back to that juicy Shaw/McGee post.
Thanks for joining! Next time we chat we will be ... talking about actual competitive baseball?!
