Connor Byrne

Hey everyone, I apologize for the lack of Monday chats in the past few weeks. We had some temporary scheduling changes. Back to normal...
Gm
5:54
Rendon to dodgers real possibility?
Connor Byrne
5:55
Sure. They've obviously got the money, and even though Turner's a great 3B, the Dodgers never have problems finding spots for guys. Turner would get plenty of playing time even with Rendon in the fold.
Matthew
5:55
Chances that Cubs sign Rendon? Castenellos? Make another move?
Connor Byrne
5:56
I don't see the Cubs signing Rendon. Castellanos would come way cheaper, and he has fared very well with Chicago, so that's a much more realistic idea.
Dipoto's Next Move
5:56
Does the M's OF next year consist of Santana-Lewis-Haniger or is Domingo gone in the offseason?
Connor Byrne
5:56
Santana should be a DH. He's a huge liability in the outfield.
Alan
5:56
Strasburg opts out?
Connor Byrne
5:57
Been discussing this with a few of my MLBTR colleagues lately. We don't expect him to opt out as of now. The upside's just not high enough. Definitely not out of the realm of possibility, though.
Detroit’s Offense
5:57
Is there any hope for us in the next 2-3 years?
Connor Byrne
5:58
Not a lot unless their own guys really step up and-or they make some huge additions from the outside.
Sup
5:58
Who wins the NL Cy Young?
Connor Byrne
5:58
I'd give it to deGrom again right now.
Connor
5:59
When will the rangers ever contend again lol😂 I want rendon!!!⚾️
Connor Byrne
5:59
1-2 years if they make the right moves. Need pitching, catcher, 3B help for sure.
Christian
5:59
Now that we had some distance from the one trading deadline do you think it was an overall positive for MLB as a whole?
Connor Byrne
6:00
I still don't like it. Either move the deadline to Aug. 10-15 or bring back the waiver deadline that runs through all of August.
M's
6:00
more likely to be traded: Domingo Santana or Haniger?
Connor Byrne
6:00
Santana. This offseason won't be the time to move Haniger, as the Mariners would be selling low on a great asset.
Jd
6:00
Gerrit Cole to the Rangers
Connor Byrne
6:01
I'm guessing the Rangers will be in on him, but so will a lot of other teams. He's got a real shot at $200MM.
Big Swole
6:01
Do the Braves exercise Teheran's option for next year?
Connor Byrne
6:02
I'm going to say yes as of now. He's not great, but $12MM is affordable enough.
padres blues
6:02
So owner Ron Fowler says the Padres will make the playoffs next year or else. How do they plan to makeup 30 games? Manny has had a very average year at best and they have a not so good young pitching staff. Do you buy into Uncle Ronnie's guarantee that the padres will make the playoffs?
Connor Byrne
6:02
They should focus on getting back to .500 first. Still a lot of weaknesses on that roster.
Richard McBeef
6:03
Why isn't Tebow up yet?
Connor Byrne
6:03
Because he's not a major league-caliber player. Tebow's a 32-yar-old whose AAA stats are atrocious.

Chances that the cardinals sign rendon and trade carpenter
Connor Byrne
6:04
I think Rendon will be too rich for the Cardinals' blood.
Nick Leyva
6:04
Simple question, complex answer (probably):  where do the Phillies get the pitching they need to markedly improve into upper-tier of MLB next year?
Connor Byrne
6:05
Free agency and-or trades. They'll be another team in on Cole and the other top FA starters, I'm sure. We saw last offseason how aggressive they'll be in terms of spending if they like the player enough.
RichD
6:06
If the Cubs did, in fact entertain a trade for Kris Bryant, who could they realistically look to get back in a deal?    Do Nate Pearson or Casey Mize even figure in an equation?
Connor Byrne
6:06
I don't think the Blue Jays/Tigers are close enough to contention to justify that type of move. Bryant's only got two years' control left.
Jake
6:07
Early guess on where Cole lands? Obviously a shot in the dark but who's the early favorite
Connor Byrne
6:08
Could depend on how the playoffs go. The Yankees' SPs haven't been nearly good enough this year, and they've been big on Cole for a while. If their rotation stops them from winning it all this year, I'm sure they'll pursue him aggressively.
Runningman63
6:08
Will the Reds keep Jose Iglesias and Freddy  Galvis?
Connor Byrne
6:09
I'll say one of the two, but not both. They've already got a club option on Galvis, so he's the easy guess. Would like to see them aim higher, though - maybe on a guy like Gregorius.
Dan Duquette
6:10
Should I update my resume and send it over to John Henry?
Connor Byrne
6:10
I don't see a Dan Duquette-Red Sox reunion happening.
