Machado and Myers are having arguably better than Fernando.....
Connor Byrne
2:36
I don't see the argument they've been superior to Tatis, though as I said a minute ago, I'm partial to an elite shortstop
Tatis has cooled off, though, so it could be an interesting race in the next couple weeks

What is ur take on Garcia in the rotation
Connor Byrne
2:37
Deivi Garcia should be there to stay for the Yankees. If Severino comes back healthy, they can at least hang their hats on those two and Cole going into next season.
Where’s Jeff?
2:37
Where did Jeff Todd go? Did he leave MLBTR? Did I miss an announcement?
Connor Byrne
2:38
Jeff is now running a business: https://www.roanokemountainadventures.com/
He's still with MLBTR on a part-time basis. In fact, he'll be covering the site later tonight!

Good for Jeff!
Connor Byrne
2:39
We at MLBTR all know he'll do a great job
Hot seat managers
2:39
What managers are likely to be fired after this short season.  If any?  Hyde al manager of the year?
Connor Byrne
2:40
I could see the Red Sox moving on from Ron Roenicke, who has always seemed like a placeholder. Otherwise, maybe Luis Rojas? I don't want to throw him under the bus after one season, but if the Mets change GMs, the new hire might want his own guy
Puig
2:41
How am I not signed as at least an insurance policy for a team?
Connor Byrne
2:41
Well, he was about to sign before a positive coronavirus test. Once that happened, it was late enough in the season that it seemed unlikely Puig would play this year. Indeed, he hasn't. Tough break.

What about an Oakland A's vs (insert NL team) World Series?  The A's always get credit for how they run their franchise but it's been 31 years since they last won.
Connor Byrne
2:42
They get credit because they've often been good despite budget restrictions. It wouldn't surprise me to see the A in the WS this year, but I have some questions about their rotation & losing Chapman really hurts
A's*
Blister
2:43
How does the Dodgers rotation stack up without Walker Bueller? That is pretty scary inaudible 3 game series
Connor Byrne
2:44
I think it's fine Kershaw's still excellent, while Gonsolin has been a top rookie and May's certainly a capable starter
CashMoney
2:44
Whats my off season plan?
Connor Byrne
2:45
Should be another starter-focused offseason for the Yankees, who could lose Tanaka and Paxton. They also have to do whatever they can (within reason) to bring LeMahieu back. Not really worried about their offense otherwise.

2:46
What 3 SP would the A’s go with in playoffs ?
Connor Byrne
2:47
Minor made a case the other night, but Bassitt has an argument. I think Manaea and Luzardo will at least get starts
Homer
2:48
Dang, Lamet not even mentioned as an option for Cy?
Connor Byrne
2:48
he's in the mix
his Sept. numbers are ridiculous
in a good way

Wouldn't a tweak to the extra inning "runner on second" rule be better as...a runner on first in the 10th, then if no winner, a runner on second to start the 11th and thereafter? Seems that might lessen the initial relative ease of scoring a runner from second and yet still inject a "speed up" mechanism to the game?
Connor Byrne
2:49
I don't think this is a bad idea going forward, if MLB is going to stick with the runner on base in extra innings thing
which I don't hate nearly as much as I thought I would
Andrew Friedman
2:50
Should I be concerned with Janson. Who else can close
Connor Byrne
2:51
he's showing again he's not the all-world Jansen of old. If there is real concern, Treinen would make sense as a closer replacement.
Wayne Simmonds
2:51
Previous questions got me thinking: which legitimate contender is going to be eliminated early because of their rotation in October? Atlanta?
Connor Byrne
2:51
Hey, it's Buffalo Sabre Wayne Simmonds! Atlanta's a good pick, though Fried's great and Hamels has finally arrived
2:52
Unfortunately, I have to leave a lot of good questions on the table and go handle the site. If you're an MLBTR member, maybe I'll see you at tomorrow's chat at 3 p.m. ET. Thanks for joining today!
