(White Sox GM Rick Hahn) - The ChiSox did try to trade for Machado a couple years back when his control was dwindling, so I guess you can't rule it out. But I don't think it's a gamble they should take in regards to Betts, who seems sure to become a free agent in a year.

Was Theo’s firing of Maddon justified or will he come to regret the decision?

It depends on how competent his replacement is. Maddon's still one of the most respected managers in the game, so it was a risk on the Cubs' part to go in another direction.
