Hope everyone is enjoying U.S. Thanksgiving.  Before the turkey makes everyone too groggy, let's get to some questions
Alex
8:10
Do you think the mets will go for kluber?
Mark P
8:12
The last two seasons notwithstanding, I think a lot of teams will be in on Kluber, the Mets quite possibly among them.  A pretty inexpensive one-year deal could end up being a big bargain if Kluber is healthy and anything like his old self
Sid

So with AA basically jumping hard and fast into FA by signing Smyly and Morton does he step back and what for market to develop on the bats?
Mark P
8:14
The Braves will keep an eye out for more pitching since (cliche but it's true) you can never have enough pitching, but the heavy lifting is probably done on the rotation side.  There are a lot more options open to Atlanta on the position player side, and they might end up waiting until some clarity on the NL DH so they can then decide on Ozuna

Turkey or Ham, or no meat? You at least have to have sweet potatoes, that is mandatory.
Mark P
8:15
I'm not a sweet potato guy, just normal potatoes for me.  And turkey all day every day.

Which free agent signing would have the biggest domino effect / cause the hot stove to heat up
Mark P
8:16
I would say one of the big shortstops (Didi, Semien, Simmons) signing, just to get the ball rolling on the shortstop market.  Lindor being traded would have the same effect, or maybe Kim signing somewhere too.

I just ordered a Madrigal jersey, please tell me we don't trade him. I know you have to give talent to get talent, but he seems like the perfect fit as the CWS 9 hitter, a little break from the power heavy lineup to turn it back over to TA at the top.
Mark P
8:17
I think your jersey investment is safe.  Madrigal seems like a building block piece in Chicago, it would be quite surprising to see him dealt.

Cubs are stuck in the middle. Do another tear-down or try to patch it up and try again?
Mark P
8:19
There's too much talent on hand for them to blow things up entirely, unless their financial situation is more dire than we're aware.  The Cubs need to break the logjam and deal SOMEONE, however, just to get some kind of roster shakeup happening.
Sox / Reds

Andrew Benintendi for Sonny Gray... Who says no? Both have 2 years remaining with Benny $4 million cheaper per year.
Mark P
8:20
Cincinnati says no and quickly, since Benintendi was very mediocre last season.
Scotty
8:20
Do you think Brad Hand is the closer wherever he signs?
Mark P
8:21
I would imagine so, unless it's a team that is trying to play the situational game and doesn't rely on a single set closer
Buffalo(??) Jays Fan

With another notable Toronto Franchise (raptors) having now been pushed South for their season (Florida), Can we assume the jays will at least begin the 2021 season south of the border?
Mark P
8:22
As of now, I would indeed expect the Buffalo Blue Jays in April and May.

Odds the A’s retain Semien?
Mark P
8:23
Quite low to nil, considering the numbers that Semien's agent has talked about: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/marcus-semien-rumors-free-agent...

Happy Thanksgiving, Mark
Mark P
8:25
Technically, it isn't Thanksgiving for me since I'm Canadian.  But thanks anyway!
It's my birthday
8:25
Where does Tommy La Stella go? As an A's fan, I really want them to re-sign him, but the its the economic hit and the fact its the A's that makes me feel skeptical. Is he overlooked as a value player? Or is he sneakily towards the top of the list for clubs?
Mark P
8:27
Happy birthday!  La Stella's ability to slot in at 1B, 2B, or 3B makes him a pretty valuable commodity, so I'd imagine a lot of teams have him on their wishlists.  Whether he's necessarily at the very top of any of those lists is another question, though an infield-needy team should definitely be checking in

Should I trade Gavin Lux, Keibert Ruiz, and Tony Gonsolin for 1 year of Lindor
Mark P
8:28
That price seems a bit too steep for one year of Lindor, as good as he is.
Quarantini Spaghettini
8:28
Lynn vs Gray vs Snell - who is most likely to get traded?
Mark P
8:29
From most likely to least, I'd go Lynn, Snell, Gray.  Texas has Lynn for only one more season and they're in a mini-rebuild, so he is most likely to go.
Jays Fan
8:29
Springer and Wong seem like the ideal combo for the Jays to address their hitting, wouldnt you agree?
Mark P
8:29
Wong not so much on the hitting, but he'd be an immense upgrade to Toronto's defense

What's your odds on FA McCann simply re-signing with White Sox ?
Mark P
8:30
Pretty low.  McCann should find a decent contract as a #1 catcher elsewhere, he won't have to take what would surely be less money to remain in a timeshare with Grandal
Johnny
8:31
Everyone trying to play the home town game with Snell, but I think it is a bit too early for the Mariners to jump on that ship.  Think the Mariners should start being major (relative) players this offseason, or wait for the crop next year.  I know our payroll is looking solid, but I would love to see a little more development from the next wave of kids before supplementing through trade/FA.
Mark P
8:33
You make a good point --- the M's might want to actually get Kelenic, Rodriguez and company into the big leagues before they fully starting reloading.  Snell is under contract for three seasons, however, so even if 2021 is still a wait-and-see year, Snell will still be in the fold for when Seattle starts looking to contend

If Nats call and offer Robles, Kieboom, Denaburg, and Crowe to Cleveland for Jose Ramirez, what does Cleveland say? Thanks, and hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!
Mark P
8:35
Cleveland gives that one a serious think, but I doubt they're really looking to move Ramirez yet.  The Tribe's pitching is so good that they certainly still have designs on contending over the next couple of seasons.

Buying any of the chatter of a Arenado trade?
Mark P
8:36
I can believe teams have checked in, but a lot of obstacles would have to be crossed before a deal got done.
8:37
For one, nobody is yet sure what the Rockies are actually planning for next year....contending, rebuilding, etc.
