Hey everyone. Welcome to today's chat. We'll get started shortly.
Jessie
2:01
jt coming back to phils??
Connor Byrne
2:01
I still think that's the most likely outcome, yes, though it's interesting that the Braves are kicking the tires a bit. I wonder a JTR signing would mean for d'Arnaud, who was terrific last season. Trade him? Keep as a backup?
2:02
*what a JTR signing*
dbarreras
2:02
Where does Simmons end up?
Connor Byrne
2:02
The Reds continue to stick out to me as the most likely fit, as they obviously need a shortstop & Simmons should cost less than Gregorius and Semien
Pad Squad
2:03
Preller says he's looking for a lefty bench bat. Who should he target?
Connor Byrne
2:03
Seems like re-signing Profar might be the best move there, though we'll see if he prices himself out of San Diego. He should be able to a regular role elsewhere.
2:04
*to find* I apparently can't type today
Al Alila
2:04
Should I sign Marcus Semien?
Connor Byrne
2:05
I'm guessing you're talking about Tigers GM Al Avila. Wouldn't hurt to try, but I don't think Semien would go there unless it's a big overpay.

Which OF will end up in Cleveland? My guess is joc pederson, yours?
Connor Byrne
2:07
Could be somewhat on the aggressive side for Cleveland, given the current state of the organization. Maybe someone like Profar or, if they want to be ultra-boring, Josh Reddick
The SuperStation
2:07
JBJ pillow contract to play LF for Braves?
Connor Byrne
2:08
I think the Astros are the best fit for him. ATL probably needs a bigger bat to help make up for the expected loss of Ozuna.
Daniel
2:09
Where does Ozuna sign?
Connor Byrne
2:10
Would be nice for a resolution to come in on the DH position. Until then, it's pretty hard to say.
hikaru
2:10
What are the padres going to do when clevinger is back and gore is ready for a rotation spot
Connor Byrne
2:11
That's what you call a high-class problem. They'll worry about it if/when it happens.
Cole
2:11
Why would the jays be interested in more OF when they have 2 promising corner OF that are cheap?
Connor Byrne
2:12
I don't disagree. Brantley would have been a luxury after signing Springer. Their main focus should be on their rotation, I think. The group of Springer, Gurriel, Hernandez and Grichuk looks pretty good.
Mike Rizzo
2:12
Who should the Nats get to be playoff contenders?
Connor Byrne
2:13
I still like the idea of a Justin Turner/Kris Bryant acquisition, but that depends on what they want to do with Kieboom. More bullpen help would also be nice.
Big John
2:14
Waiting on Jerry Dipoto to wake up and start dealing.  Are the Mariners done?
Connor Byrne
2:14
Probably not done adding to their bullpen at least, but I've never expected much activity from them this offseason. Next winter could be a different story.
Vladdy
2:15
Is this the year I break out? Or is bichette the true jewel of the jays??
Connor Byrne
2:16
I continue to expect Vlad to turn into a great offensive player, maybe as early as this season. He's still only 21 years old. A lifetime 107 wRC+ through 757 plate appearances at that age isn't anything to sneeze at.
Robert
2:17
Who might the Braves bring in for the bullpen
Connor Byrne
2:18
Old pals Shane Greene and Mark Melancon are still out there, but there are still a lot of good choices (Hand, Rosenthal, McGee, etc.)
Jed Hoyer
2:18
With DJ, and Springer both off the board is Kris Bryant the biggest impact bat left on the market? Do I trade him to the Jays, Braves, or Dodgers imminently?
Connor Byrne
2:19
I'd say he has the highest potential of anyone who could be available. The Braves stand out as the top fit for me. It would fit Alex Anthopoulos' MO of adding a guy on a high-priced one-year deal.
Rob
2:20
who are your super bowl picks?
Connor Byrne
2:20
Hoping for Bills over Bucs
Oy Vey
2:20
Are the Red Sox going to do ANYTHING?
Connor Byrne
2:21
They'll probably add a fairly cheap second baseman (Enrique Hernandez?) and some more unexciting pitching, but this was never going to be an especially active winter for them
Bauer fan
2:21
What team do you believe will sign Bauer ? Do you see any teams not mentioned that may splurge on him to get over the top ?
Connor Byrne
2:22
The Dodgers have been my pick all along. It's hard to answer the second question because it still isn't fully clear what kind of deal Bauer wants. Will it be a long-term contract or the short-term type he has expressed an openness to in the past?
Brian
2:23
The market had been so slow and the season is fast approaching. Are there big names who will be without a team when spring training starts?
Connor Byrne
2:23
If spring training starts on time, that wouldn't surprise me. We've seen some big names linger until then in the past few years (Arrieta's one of the recent examples that comes to mind)
Greg
2:25
Why haven't the Yankees announce the LeMahieu and Kluber signings as being official?
