Good question. Steve, Tim and I were talking about this earlier today. Not sure what the holdup is.
Jed Hoyer
2:26
With 0 more starting-caliber catchers (other than JTR, who I will not sign) left on the market, will I have to get back an MLB catcher if I trade Contreras?
Connor Byrne
2:27
Jed Hoyer = Cubs GM. I'd argue Molina is still a starting-caliber catcher - just not a very exciting one anymore. Not saying he'd sign with a longtime nemesis, granted. Robinson Chirinos and Wilson Ramos could be other targets. I don't expect Contreras to go anywhere this offseason, though.

Jays next move is what?? Brantley thing was so confusing
Connor Byrne
2:28
Wild guess: Jake Odorizzi

Brewers will make the playoffs this year....Ayyyyyyyy!
Connor Byrne
2:29
They might. That looks like a division that's there for the taking for anyone but the Pirates.
Bert
2:29
Nats catcher?????
Connor Byrne
2:30
Yes, that's another possible need for them. They've always stood out as one of the best fits for JTR on paper, but who knows if they want to spend that much.
Tom Ricketts
2:31
Just here to announce that I am the worst and I will be selling the Cubs ASAP
Connor Byrne
2:31
Ricketts went from World Series-winning owner to pariah pretty quickly. Can't say I blame Cubs fans for their anger toward him.

Will any team in NL Central make playoffs??
Connor Byrne
2:32
It's looking like MLB's version of the NFC East right now

Any Chris Archer news?
Lunar verLander
2:33
Most interesting buy-low pitcher available?
Connor Byrne
2:34
Nothing on Archer lately, but he's an interesting buy-low pitcher. Paxton, Porcello and Rodon are some others who spring to mind.

With Nolan Jones on the cusp of playing third base for Cleveland, do you see Cleveland trading JRam by the deadline?  We can expect a haul if so, right?
Connor Byrne
2:35
Yes to expecting a haul. As for trading him in-season (if he's not gone before then), I would expect that to depend on whether Cleveland has a chance at a playoff spot.

2:35
JTR , franco 3B  , and rick porcello for Washington and they will have a chance.
Connor Byrne
2:36
Maikel Franco? I'd rather just stick with Kieboom.
Derek Falvey
2:36
Am I done bringing in Starters?
Connor Byrne
2:37
(Twins chief baseball officer Derek Falvey) - I'm still not completely ruling out something bigger - an Odorizzi or Bauer signing, for instance - but I don't think they'd feel broken up about entering next season with the rotation they have right now.

When will the angels learn they need elite starters?
Connor Byrne
2:39
Dylan Bundy was close to that level last year, but yeah, they're still going to have to do something else even after the Quintana signing.
JN
2:39
Is Roberto Osuna healthy? He seems like the youngest high-end relief pitcher with one of the best track records on the market (personal life aside)
Connor Byrne
2:40
There was talk of potential Tommy John surgery late last season, but he opted for rehab instead and nothing has been said about him since (not that I've seen).

2:41
What final moves do you see the Royals making? Hats off to them for at least trying to put together a competitive team.
Connor Byrne
2:41
Yeah, agreed. I like that they're one of the teams making an effort. GM Dayton Moore said he wants a lefty-hitting outfielder. I'll mention Profar and Reddick again as guys who fit that description.

Any chances the yankees are playing coy and are in on trevor bauer? This would put them over the top in the AL and capitalize on the prime years of their roster
Connor Byrne
2:42
Doubt it. All indications are they're trying to duck the luxury tax.

2:43
Could the Mets net Bryant and Kimbrel for JD Davis?
Connor Byrne
2:43
I wouldn't trade Davis for that package

Archer feels like a classic Dodgers buy-low candidate with the Friedman connection

David Fletcher and Reid Detmers for Luis Castillo. Who says no?
Connor Byrne

This is intriguing, but I'd say the Reds

San Diego has a top farm system going into this offseason, di all these changes deplete it lots?
Connor Byrne
2:45
It's obviously not as good, but it's still above average from what I've read.
Astros
2:46
Why spend more money on JBJ when you can get as good or better defense from a Marisnick reunion, for a fraction of the cost?
Connor Byrne
2:47
Well, I think JBJ's a far better player
