Connor Byrne

Hey everyone. Welcome to this week's chat. We'll get going in a minute or two.
Trevor Rosenthal
2:01
Where do I sign?
Connor Byrne
2:01
The Padres make the most sense to me. They still need bullpen help & Rosenthal was great there during the regular season, albeit over a small sample size.
Jason
2:02
Do you think the Cubs will trade Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Contreras or Hendrick before the season starts or at all?
Connor Byrne
2:02
I still kind of expect Bryant to go, but otherwise, I think that group will stay intact heading into the season.
Inprellerwetrust
2:02
Adam Wainwright to the Padres?
Connor Byrne
2:03
This would make sense for the Padres or any other contending team that wants to bolster the back end of its rotation.
Justin Turner
2:03
Do i have to keep playing the brewers, mets and blue jays? Or can i just sign my 1 yr deal with the dodgers already?
Connor Byrne
2:04
I think Turner ultimately returns to LA on either a two-year deal or a one-year contract with some sort of option. Can't see him getting the 3-/4-year pact he wants.

So, with the news that Angels are not going to pursue Bauer. Who do you think they should focus on instead? Odorizzi? Gray? Or someone else?
Connor Byrne
2:05
Those guys would make sense, yes, as would a Castillo trade. That might prove too costly, though. Might be worth noting Hamels is a California native with ties to Maddon, but I think the Angels should be shooting for more of a sure thing.
2:06
speaking of Maddon, if Kyle Hendricks is actually available, the Angels should be pressing for him (not saying he is)
SFGiants
2:06
Which left handed outfielder do you see the Giants signing?
Connor Byrne
2:06
Jackie Bradley Jr. seems to make the most sense for a team in a spacious park that could use a center fielder.
I thought he'd go to the Astros, but they seem to be done with major expenditures
Didi
2:07
Market has shrunk for shortstops. What’s Didi’s best path forward now?
Connor Byrne
2:07
Still expecting a multiyear deal with the Phillies
Cards Follower
2:07
I know he's not a sure thing, but I'd bet the Cardinals would trade C-Mart to the Angels, if for nothing else, to free up money to sign Molina and Wainwright.
Connor Byrne
2:08
Depends on what the Cards would get back. I've always been bullish on Martinez, so he's not a guy I'd be hurrying to trade.
Franki
2:08
Will The Twins go after Any Big Free agents and or trades?
Connor Byrne
2:08
I'll continue to be surprised if Nelson Cruz doesn't go back there.
Chev Chelios
2:09
Rangers still need a 3B...what non-internal option do they look at?
Connor Byrne
2:09
Probably someone like Maikel Franco, Marwin Gonzalez or Travis Shaw if they go the free agency route
Joc?
2:10
Where do I end up?
Connor Byrne
2:10
I've always liked the Cardinals as a fit, but they're apparently in "we're only going to sign Waino and/or Molina" mode
Dan v
2:11
The AL west looks wide open now to me with oakland and houston weaker. You think 85 to 90 wins does it? And is houston the fav still?
Connor Byrne
2:12
Yeah, I'd probably label the Astros as the favorite. The A's are having a rough offseason, and it probably won't get much better with their reluctance to spend. The Angels could work their way into the discussion with another move or two. The Rangers and Mariners are still trailing behind. Your 85-90 win projection seems reasonable right now.
Luc
2:12
La stella a good sign for sf?
Connor Byrne
2:13
Yes, I like that move. La Stella's underrated. He hits, he seldom strikes out, and he's versatile in the field.
Ando
2:13
Any chance the Pirates trade Frazier and Kuhl? Any value in a return for either?
Connor Byrne
2:13
Yes to both questions, though I don't think either would return any kind of haul right now.
Yanks
2:14
Do you think Shane Greene and/or Trevor Rosenthal are going to the Yankees?
Connor Byrne
2:15
A reunion with Greene seems more realistic to me, based on the Yankees' hesitance about the luxury tax. They did just sign O'Day, though, so maybe they're done with significant bullpen moves.
Masahiro Tanaka
2:15
Do you see me one day pitching for the Yankees again? I really hate to say “Sayonara” this way
Connor Byrne
2:16
"Masahiro Tanaka going back to Japan" would've been one of the last storylines I'd have expected this offseason. Whether he goes back to the Yankees or pitches with another team, I do think we'll see him again in the majors. I hope so, anyway, because I've always enjoyed watching him.
Jason
2:16
Any chance the Braves would sign Eddie Rosario?
Connor Byrne
2:17
Would make sense as a consolation prize if they don't get someone like Ozuna, Turner, Bryant, Arenado or even Pederson. They obviously need help at corner OF and/or 3B.
cards fan
2:17
as a lifelong cards fan, i am disgusted with the team.  I dont care if they allow fans to the games why would I spend money to watch Goldy and a triple a team .  no thanks there payroll is down almost 50 mil from what it was and still nothing .  do you believe the poor poor me bs
Connor Byrne
2:18
I don't blame you. Their offseason has been terrible, especially with no one else in the NL Central putting forth much of an effort. That division is there for the taking.
David Sterns
2:18
Why am I so obsessed with signing mediocre infielders and not going after a good #3 starter...is it because I've got too mucn invested in Josh Lindblom?
