Jason could Kaleb Cowart be our 2B for 2018?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
I think he'll be in the mix, but not enough success to hand him the job. Good start, but only 5 for his last 37. Still has another month to prove himself.
Closer

Who is going to close for Angels next 5 weeks?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
I think Scioscia sticks with his committee of Bedrosian, Middleton, Norris, Petit and Parker.
5:27
I don't think he trusts any of those guys enough. Bedrosian has been close to earning his trust, but they're being cautious with him. Unless Norris regains his early season form, I don't think they stick with one guy.

Eta to the Majors on Cal Quantrill? MacKenzie Gore?
AvatarJason Martinez

Quantril by mid-2018. He'll be 23. Gore by mid-2020. He'll be 21.

Congrats on your Padres finishing in 4th place this year. Do you think they will eventually move to Las Vegas since SD doesn't support pro sports?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:37
They have a better home attendance than 10 teams, many that are in playoff contention. And the Padres haven't played a meaningful game in 7 years and have never won a championship and most people in San Diego aren't from San Diego. Trust me, this town goes crazy when the Padres (and the Chargers, R.I.P.) are good.
5:39
Speaking of San Diego sports, I just saw Marshall Faulk get into his car across the street from the coffee shop where I'm sitting. I've been to 1 SDSU game in my life and it was the 1st game they let him play. He had over 300 yards and 7 touchdowns. Should I tell him that next time I see him?

Will Aroldis chapman close another game for the Yankees this season

I think so. Unless he's hurt, I think he'll get back on track and back in the closer's role by mid-September.

What are the chances Carson Smith is activated for September?
AvatarJason Martinez

I believe he's on track for September 1st
Marlins Dude
5:42
can we please answer some freaking marlin questions?!?
AvatarJason Martinez

Stanton isn't going anywhere. It's a complicated trade because of his contract and because it would cost a team a lot of talent. Plus, he's the "Face of the Franchise" and the new owners will realize that he sells tickets. Superstar player who is well known and hits bombs.
5:45
Dee Gordon and Martin Prado will be shopped in the offseason. Brian Anderson is having a breakout season and could take over at 3B in '18 with Prado moving to 2B if Gordon is traded.
5:46
Kyle Barraclough will be the closer in 2018. Great name and lots of strikeouts.
Mason Jartinez
5:47
Alex Reyes a Cardinals starter next season?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:47
I think he'll be eased in around mid-season. Recovery from TJ surgery is unpredictable. Even if a guy makes it back quickly like Andrew Heaney, command is not quite there.
Twins Dude
5:49
what about some freakin twins questions?!?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:52
Twins might get to the Wild Card spot and I see them as a team on the rise, but they're just not quite there yet. I do look forward to mid-2018 rotation of Santana, Berrios, Stephen Gonsalves and Fernando Romero. If they can add another mid-rotation (or frontline starter) this offseason and a closer, I think they can take the next step and play deep into the post-season.
5:53
Gotta go. Same time and place next week. Thanks for chatting!
