He's not on their team right now and it will take a few really good prospects to acquire him this offseason.
5:20
Clayton Richard is a perfect fit to mentor their young starters and eat innings. But I'll be very disappointed if he's not their 4th or 5th best option next season.

When is a minor leaguer too old to be considered a prospect?  I see some lists with 25 and 26 yo players.  Too me they should be off any lists if they are  25 or older.

Some players take longer to develop so I wouldn't write off anyone based on age. It really depends on the situation. Mitch Haniger didn't play in the Majors until age 25. Look at what Jeff McNeil is doing at age 26.
5:24
With that said, I will usually take a successful season in the upper minors or a small-sample size performance in the Majors less serious if the player is 25+ years of age. They've gone unnoticed in the Minors until that age for a reason. Most guys don't come out of nowhere to be stars.

Who plays right field for the Braves next season?

I think they'll at least make a run at Bryce Harper. They have the farm system talent/depth to acquire a legit middle-of-the-order bat, though. If not either of those options, probably makes sense to bring Markakis back on a 1-2 year deal. Or maybe someone like Adam Jones. Jones would be a great fit on a team ready to take the next step from playoff contender to WS contender.

is  aaron  sanchez on waviers boston saying dont look good for price

Not even necessary. He wouldn't make it past the first team that could claim him.

Pujols is having knee surgery. Odd 2019 is his last year?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
Possibly. I saw him play recently. He can barely move out there. I don't see him getting thru his entire contract (thru '21), but I doubt he thinks that. I imagine that a guy who was the best hitter on the planet for a while would have an easy time admitting he's done.

So Josh Naylor headlining a package for a Dylan Bundy or Marcus Stroman?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:36
I think Naylor will eventually be traded. But no 1B-only prospect would headline a trade package for an impact player unless they were expected to be one of the best hitters in the game in their prime. So if Vlad Jr. was a 1B, he could still headline a deal.

Would the Braves really consider trading newcomb or folty? If they were gonna make a trade it seems that they would trade from their depth to add a legit ace instead of trading one of their two best pitchers from this season.

I think they'll consider all options. They have prospects to trade. They have plenty of MLB depth so they can trade one of their established guys. Or they can do both. My point was that they can trade from their MLB roster because they have so many MLB-ready (or close-to-MLB-ready) prospects. And Folty/Newcomb have a ton of value right now.

I’m glad you like the Braves so much. How about a Rockies question?  Heard of them?  Do they resign DJ or bring up Hampton or Rodgers?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:44
I'm guessing that they can only sign 1 of Arenado/LeMahieu long-term and I believe they'll be very aggressive in trying to keep Arenado there for his entire career. So I believe they'll shop LeMahieu this offseason since they have McMahon/Hampson/Rodgers as options in '19.

Someone takes a shot on Morales?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:47
If they Jays were willing to eat at least half of his contract in '19, I could see a team being interested in acquiring him and hoping his hot streak carries over into September/October. But no team wants him at $12MM in '19. He's a DH-only who was awful for the 1st 2 months of the season.

Who is the most exciting prospect not already called up you are looking forward to when rosters are expanded this weekend?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:51
I think Eloy Jimenez and Victor Robles have the best chance to get the call and play regularly (at least a few starts per week in Robles' case) since they're both already on the 40-man roster.

How quickly does Tatis jr. get called up in 2019?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:53
I'll guess mid-to-late May. Could be July/August if they can re-sign Galvis and Tatis isn't crushing the ball in AAA.

Cardinals win the central?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:55
I doubt they'll catch the Cubs, but WildCard appears likely. It's all clicking at the right time. Losing Gyorko/Wong doesn't help, but could motivate them to pull the trigger on a Donaldson deal.

Does MLB seriously have the talent pool to support two more expansion teams?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:59
There are more good MLB hitters without jobs right now than pitchers. So my answer would be yes, but I think MLB need to do something to reverse the HR and K spike or else it would just continue with the addition of 2 expansion teams. More balls in play means that good defenders/bad hitters have more value and not every pitcher has to throw 95+ to keep the ball in the park.
Watching Jacob Nix nearly throw a complete game shutout with 0 BB, 0 K and under 90 pitches made me think we were back in the 1980s.
