Jason Martinez
4:31
Thanks for joining me. Let's talk some baseball.
Adam
4:31
What type of return would the Sox get from the Pirates for Quintana?
Jason Martinez
4:32
I think it has to start with either Meadows or Glasnow and another top prospect for starters. Might even take both.
Sully
4:33
Is Joc going to be the everyday CF for Dodgers?
Jason Martinez
4:34
I'm sure they'll give him a chance to play mostly everyday and adjust if he's not having success against LHP.
Oren
4:35
Jay Bruce + Michael Conforto for Dalton Pompey + Danny Barnes, is this in the ballpark? The Jays get two LH-hitting OFs. The Mets rid themselves of Bruce, get a big-league ready CF and a high-upside RP (and New York native) in Barnes.
Jason Martinez
4:35
Not even close. Pompey had some value a few years back. Not so much anymore. Can't give up Conforto in that deal.
Jason
4:36
Any truth to the mccutchen to the mets rumors? Cost?
Jason Martinez
4:37
I'm sure they've asked. Not sure if Mets are willing to give up their top prospect (Amed Rosario) or can afford to give up Steven Matz. I think it would take one or both of those guys to start the conversation.

Do the giants even have a guy the twins like to concider tradIng dozier to them? Besides the dodgers what other teams are in on him?
Jason Martinez
4:38
Giants don't have the pieces, even if they traded Joe Panik (assuming Dozier would be the starting 2B). Dodgers are the only logical team, in my opinion. Sounds like it's Jose De Leon and more. The "more" is what they're not agreeing on.
Jake Peavy
4:39
Where do I end up?
Jason Martinez
4:39
I've been saying for a while that a reunion with the Padres makes a lot of sense ... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/10/offseason-outlook-san-diego-padres-8.html

4:42
If price lowers will I sign hammels or wieters
Jason Martinez
4:43
Definitely to Wieters. Rotation is a bit crowded, though. I think they'd want to leave one spot open after Teheran, Colon, Dickey, Garcia so the youngsters can compete.
Aaron
4:44
Are the Cubs favorites to sign Tyson Ross
Jason Martinez
4:44
Have to think so. That's his best chance to win a championship. And they probably have enough rotation depth to ease him back into action.
Kyle
4:47
If Braves keep Mallex at AAA to start season who would you put on thier list for a fourth OF type? FA or Trade?
Jason Martinez
4:47
I think that should be the plan. Not ideal to give a young guy with almost no MLB experience a bench job when he could be playing everyday in the minors. Several FA options out there ... Peter Bourjos, Rajai Davis, Justin Ruggiano.

If Twins pull of Dozier trade, what are chances they sign Chase Utley so I can see him play at Target field?
Jason Martinez
4:50
If they really feel good about Jorge Polanco at SS—and I'm pretty sure that's not the case—I can see that just because there aren't many other options and Utley's hope is that he's flipped to a contender at the deadline.
Casey
4:51
This report that the A's are pursuing EE was made in jest, right?
Jason Martinez
4:51
A's weren't expected to sign Yoenis Cespedes a few years back, either. I'd take it seriously, but I can't see EE signing with them in their current state, though. He's looking for a multi-year deal and they don't look like contenders any time soon.

4:53
Why did the Dodgers trade away Kendrick only to now be in the search for a second baseman?
Jason Martinez
4:53
Cleared $10MM in salary for a guy they used as a super-utility man last year. I don't think they're concerned with finding a 2B. Utley is probably the backup plan and he started over Kendrick in '16.

4:55
Does giving up Frazier, Rutherford, Kaprielian and Wilkerman Garcia put Quintana in Pinstripes??
Jason Martinez
4:55
I think that's close, but sounds like Yankees don't want to part with Frazier or Torres. It's probably gonna take one of those guys.
M.J.
4:55
If Cleveland offered Trevor Bauer to the Yankees for Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield, do you think the Yankees accept it?
Jason Martinez
4:55
They don't want to give up Frazier for Quintana so they're not trading him for Bauer.
Duderino
4:57
I'm baffled by the Bucholz trade, especially with no salary relief... What was Klentak's reasoning?
Jason Martinez
4:58
Their payroll is close to where it was last season and they can probably go much higher when they're ready to compete. This is all about not rushing their young guys to the majors in a season in which they're probably not going to compete for a playoff spot. The key is that they have almost no $ committed beyond '17 so they can add 1 to 2 impact players in free agency next season when they could certainly be playoff contenders.

Do you like the signing of Chacin and Richards? And what do you think of the rumors of bringing Peavy back?
Jason Martinez
5:02
Yep. Not paying much for either and they both finished strong in '16. Adding Peavy would at least give them a guy who has been an ace and has a strong history in SD.
Donald
5:04
Desclafani or straily for Smith, Vogelbach and Gohara sound plausible or does it take more?
Jason Martinez
5:04
No, they can get a lot more for DeSclafani. Vogelbach to Cincy isn't a fit. I can see Seth Smith and a minor leaguer for Straily.
Matt
5:05
Will the reds be able to find a taker for Brandon Phillips?
Jason Martinez
5:05
I don't see it. Makes a lot of $ and only the Dodgers need a 2B. If they can't trade for Dozier or sign Utley for any reason, I think they'd be interested if Reds ate some $.
Brendan
5:08
What do you think the Nationals do with their 6th starter situation?
Jason Martinez
5:08
If everyone is healthy, I think A.J. Cole would be that guy with Austin Voth not far behind. Also expect them to add another veteran or two on MiLB deals. Jacob Turner has already signed.
Zealin Glickrieman
5:09
Who is the Giants 5th starter to start the year?
