Why aren't the Twins looking at Bautista or Reynolds as possible free agent options.  They have been connected to Napoli but the other two seem to have more upside.

Not even sure that Napoli is a great fit and the latest reports suggest that the rumors were overblown. As things stand, I don't know if bringing in another DH/1B is ideal. Sano isn't going to play 3B everyday and Mauer will also need to DH on occasion. Eduardo Escobar deserves to play regularly. Kennys Vargas and Robbie Grossman are still there.

Arrieta or Darvish. Nola took a big step forward in '17. He's legit and deserving of the Opening Day gig unless it's an established veteran star who gets the call.

I think they'll work him into the mix in '18 and figure out if he can be a starting big league catcher. Martin is signed thru '19, but I doubt he'll catch more than 100 games in either of the next two seasons.

How likely is it that Barreto or Hays are on the starting lineup come April?

Not likely for either. If the A's were to trade Lowrie or Semien, chances improve greatly for Barreto. But more likely for June or July. Hays is penciled in right now, but there are so many veteran free agent options. His prospect status skyrocketed in '17, but remember that he jumped from AA to the Majors. Needs ABs in AAA.

Overall value of the deals would probably be close (I'm guessing $350-400MM). But that quartet would probably cost twice as much in AAV ($70-80MM vs $35-40MM).

I'd guess Montreal and maybe Portland. As much as MLB would love to expand to Mexico, I think it's like 7000 feet above sea level. That would be a much different game that team is playing 81 times per season.

Dodgers went to the World Series. They're good enough to go again even if they don't make another move. They have some really good prospects on the way (Verdugo, Buehler, Alvarez). If anything, they need a reliable 8th inning guy and it wouldn't surprise me if that was their only priority. A lot of the best free agent relievers are already off the board, though. I'm guessing they sign Addison Reed or Tony Watson.

Adding a reliable starting pitcher should be the priority. Jonathan Lucroy would be a nice fit behind the plate. Bounce-back candidate and good complement to Maldonado.

Once Toles returns from his injury, who is the odd man out of the Dodgers outfield?

Unfortunately, I think the injury pushed Toles back down the depth chart. If the Dodgers don't bring in another OF, he should get another shot at some point. If Pederson struggles again or if Taylor ends up at 2B over Forsythe, guys like Toles and Verdugo will have a chance.
