Why do you beat writers continue to put down Mets ownership as cheap and not committed to winning, when they signed the best position free agent on the market last year and seem to be at least as active as other clubs in this year's market?

I'm not a beat writer and I almost never criticize ownership/front offices or any trades/free agent moves they make or don't make. I know Mets fans don't seem happy with ownership. I do regularly criticize the owner of my favorite team (Padres) for failing to bring back the Brown/Yellow uniforms.
