Prior to the injury, the typical Brantley season was looking like .300 BA, 15-20 HR, 45 2B, 15-20 SB, 90 RBI. If i had to guess, I'd say that he'll be slightly below in 2017. Maybe .280 BA with 12-15 HR, 35-40 2B, 12-15 SB, 75-80 RBI.

If Archer has a good start to the year but the rays are out of it, could they get a Chris sale type package at the deadline?
Jason Martinez
5:51
I don't see why not. Team-friendly contract thru 2021.
Andrew
5:52
Tyson Ross and Mike Napoli to the Rangers?
Jason Martinez
5:53
That's the word on the street. Not at the finish line but I'm guessing other teams have to make up their minds very quickly on whether they want to outbid the Rangers.

Can you see Pirates giving up Meadows plus Bell or Glasnow to get the Quintana deal done?
Jason Martinez
5:55
I don't think so. Meadows is the guy who will replace Cutch once he's traded or leaves as a free agent. The re-signing of Ivan Nova puts them in a very good position to trade away Glasnow. Maybe Glasnow, Bell and another pitching prospect would be the offer for Quintana. Not sure if it's enough.

Do you think Trevor Hoffman belongs in Cooperstown?
Jason Martinez
6:00
I'd vote for him. I think there should be a small % of relievers who are voted it for each era. Hoffman, Mariano, Billy Wagner. Who else was as dominant for that many seasons during that era? Hoffman and Wagner each had about 15 dominant seasons. Most relievers aren't capable of being good for 2 seasons in a row.

Is Nats done adding players?
Jason Martinez
6:01
Nope. I think they add one late-inning RP (closer or setup), a backup infielder and possibly some SP depth. And I think they're open to adding Wieters if his price drops enough.
Matt
6:03
Who is a major player for the Brian Dozier other than the dodgers?
Jason Martinez
6:03
Only other team with an obvious need at 2B is the Royals and they're not trying to trade for him. I think other teams mentioned in rumors, such as the Cardinals and Nats, would be willing to move some pieces around if they could add him. But no way they'd be willing to give up more than the Dodgers, who actually need a 2B.
6:04
Jeanmar was terrible late in the season. No trade value.
Omar Minaya
6:04
Jeanmar Gomez for Jay Bruce and ca$h?
Jon Daniels
6:06
Will I be trading one of my relief pitchers this offseason?
Jason Martinez
6:06
If there's a team who could afford to trade away relief pitching, it's the Rangers. I thought Jeffress, with his closing experience, would've been a nice trade chip this offseasonn but haven't really heard his name in rumors. They're deep and talented with Dyson, Bush, Diekman, Barnette, Kela, Scheppers.

Why did the Braves sign Sean Rodriguez? He's versatile and provides a veteran presence, but it's a bit redundant to have him on the team with Garcia and Peterson, both of whom are utility players like Rodriguez.
Jason Martinez
6:09
Rodriguez is capable of spelling Kemp in LF Garcia at 3B, Swanson at SS and should get most at-bats at 2B against LHP. And if Freeman ever needs a day, Rodriguez has a lot of experience at 1B. There's plenty of value there and he could still get 350-450 at-bats bouncing around. I don't think Garcia is playing anywhere other than 3B.

Why arn't the Rockies jumping in on starters like Tyson Ross, Jason Hammel, Jose Quintana, or Sonny Gray?
Jason Martinez
6:13
Free agents aren't going to sign there and there's too much risk involved with the Rockies acquiring pitching. Hard to tell how much success any pitcher will have. Best if their starting pitchers are homegrown (see Jon Gray, Tyler Anderson, Chad Bettis).

6:18
It seems the Cardinals have only 4 outfielders with Pham being the only backup. Do you think they'll explore trading Matt Adams for a left handed batting reserve outfielder?
Jason Martinez
6:20
Adding a lefty hitting OF isn't a bad idea. They signed Todd Cunningham to a MiLB deal, although he hasn't shown much in the majors. There are a few FAs available who could fit: Michael Bourn, Coco Crisp, Colby Rasmus.

Is meadows and Glasnow straight up for Quintana fair?
Jason Martinez
6:21
I think the White Sox might take that deal, even without a 3rd prospect involved. I don't think the Pirates are interested in trading both of those guys.
Mason Jartinez
6:23
What's the deal with Jesus Montero? Was he a good pickup for the Orioles or no?
Jason Martinez
6:23
Just AAA depth. He'll serve a 50-game PED suspension to start the season and they'll he'll likely put up big numbers in AAA and hope for a September call-up.

Why didn't Cleveland re-sign Rajai Davis? For a one year, 6 million dollar contract, he was definitely affordable, and he was the biggest base stealing threat since Kenny Lofton.
Jason Martinez
6:24
Indians OF is crowded ... Brantley, Naquin, Chisenhall, Guyer, Almonte, Zimmer. Even if they were willing to match that offer, he'll get a lot more at-bats with Oakland. And he'll get traded to a contender in July.

With a good VET OF bat...do you think phillies can contend for a .500 record in 17. The SP should be better(assuming they are healthy)
Jason Martinez
6:26
Yep. I like their rotation depth, but they really need Nola and Velasquez to stay healthy.

6:27
Will the Dodgers trade puig, McCarthy, or kazmir?
Jason Martinez
6:27
My guess is not this offseason. They'd be selling very low on all 3.
HUGE Jays Fan
6:30
Jays need two bullpen pieces. A LHP and RHP, plus an OF. You are Russ. Who fills those spots?
Jason Martinez
6:30
I'll go with Boone Logan, Fernando Salas and Jose Bautista.
Phil B
6:32
Are the brewers going to trade a starting pitcher? They seem to have an extra one or two.
Jason Martinez
6:32
I think they'll stand pat and plan on sending either Jimmy Nelson, Chase Anderson or Zach Davies to AAA to start the season if everyone is healthy. All have options remaining. The guy who would have any trade value (Junior Guerra) missed time in the 2nd half with a sore elbow. Huge red flag.

6:35
If you were the Orioles would you trade Britton to restock a bad farm system?
Jason Martinez
6:35
I would and it wouldn't surprise me if the O's were willing to do it. But the chances of that happening decreased significantly once Jansen re-signed with the Dodgers and the Cubs acquired Wade Davis. Both of those teams had the pieces to acquire Britton and might've been desperate enough if those deals with Jansen/Davis fell through.

Does Melky Cabrara have any trade value?
