Not sure if they have any position that is just a black hole. An impact bat could help, but who do they bench? I supposed Grichuk could go back to the minors. He could also get hot, which is what they're probably counting on.

Will we rebound next year? : (
Jason Martinez
5:09
Yep. Something about an even year. And they have a really good core of veteran players still in their prime. Good formula to turn things around.

Could you see JD Martinez landing in Arizona as a rental?
Jason Martinez
5:12
They could use a corner OF with Tomas hurt, but I think they're more likely to use their resources on a late-inning reliever.  And I think other lighter hitting teams would give up more. Would be fun to see him in that D'backs lineup, though.

When will thornberg and Carson smith be allowed out of witness protection. If healthy huge boast for Red Sox bullpen
Jason Martinez
5:14
Pretty sure Thornburg is done for 2017. Carson Smith is a wild card, but I'd expect to see him in the 2nd half. We'll see how quickly he's back to his pre-injury form. He was dominant in 2015. I hate TJ surgery.

5:16
Is there any prospect right now hotter than Ronald Acuna, in terms of finally get the publicity he deserves??
Jason Martinez
5:17
Finally??? Dude is like 19. He hasn't had enough time to not get the publicity he deserves. In all seriousness, he is one of the fastest rising prospects in baseball and will probably be in the Majors as a 20 years old. That's crazy.
Eppler
5:19
Will Mike Pence throw out first pitch next year or will Donald get a get out jail card for 1 day to do the honors?
Jason Martinez
5:19
Starting to sound like they'll have to go a lot further down the depth chart for that one. Could be President Baron Trump throwing out the 1st pitch. He might be the only innocent one in all of this.
Just a dude, ya know?
5:19
What could the jays get for Joe Smith. Dude has been a strikeout machine this season.
Jason Martinez
5:20
More than what the Angels got for him last season. But not that much more unless he comes off the DL very soon and picks up where he left off.
Bernie
5:21
Who are some reasonable trade targets for the Brewers?
Jason Martinez
5:21
I wouldn't count out any pitcher from this list ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-trade-deadline-candidates-position-... They have the trade chips to do something big. Just a matter of how aggressive they want to be.
Joshua
5:24
Could the Yankees reunite with David Robertson?
Jason Martinez
5:25
Without knowing how much more $ they'd want to add to their payroll, I think he's a good fit. Tyler Clippard is off the books next season. Maybe Sox pick up enough of D-Rob's salary to make it work. I'm always down for a good reunion.
Mike
5:27
Can't believe BBA put Vlady Jr #2 overall behind Moncada and ahead of Torres and Rosario.
Jason Martinez
5:28
Upside was definitely a factor, but not sure how a guy in Low-A who might not be able to stay at 3B is ahead of a pair of elite shortstops on the verge of the Majors (Gleyber was before the injury). All elite guys. But Vlad still has to prove himself at a few more levels and might end up at 1B or LF/RF.
Troy

Braves starting lineup in Sept 2018 w/ starting pitchers too! Love you.
Jason Martinez
5:30
Inciarte (CF), Swanson (SS), Freeman (1B), Machado (3B), Markakis (RF), Acuña (LF), Flowers (C), Albies (2B).
5:33
1. Jake Arrieta 2. Teheran 3. Folty 4. Newcomb 5. Allard, Soroka or Sims.

Could the Rangers trade Jurickson Profar and Ariel Jurado to the Padres for Brad Hand
Jason Martinez
5:35
If Rangers are in the playoff hunt in 2 weeks, I can see a trade for Profar and a prospect, but one not as good as Jurado. Maybe in the 6-10 range in the org.
Abe
5:35
hey Jason, what do they angels need to give up to get dee gordon?
Jason Martinez
5:38
It would be tough with their limited resources and I'm not sure they'd want to trade their best prospects at this point. Matt Thaiss (last year's 1st Rd pick). Grayson Long and Jaime Barria are probably the only 3 guys with decent value in the upper minors.  Jahmai Jones, their No. 1 prospect, is in Low-A. If the Angels liked 1-2 of those guys enough, maybe something could get done.
Johnny Cueto
5:39
Do I get traded and do I pitch better in the 2nd half?
Jason Martinez
5:40
Yes and yes. At least better than the last time you were traded (4.76 ERA, 11.1 H/9 in 13 starts for KC in '15).
Arclighti
5:42
The Athletics have made it known to other teams that Alonso is available in trades “right now,” writes ESPN’s Buster Olney.

Alonso+Gray for Andujar+ Justus+Mateo+Clarkin?
Jason Martinez
5:42
Consider any player who is due to become a free agent after the season and on a team that is out of contention available in a trade. So Alonso is 100% available and should have plenty of interest. Those are 4 good prospects. Need an elite one in there to get Gray, though, in my opinion.
John Farrell
5:44
Who is my 3rd baseman on August 1st?
Jason Martinez
5:45
Red Sox would love Solarte. I'll say Eduardo Nuñez, though, since Dombrowski might not be all that interested in trading with Preller this year.
Andy
5:46
When does Gleybar Torres make his debut in the Bronx next year?
Jason Martinez
5:46
Friday April 27th.
Carson City
5:47
Cards calling me up as soon as service time calc is favorable?
Jason Martinez
5:48
I think you'll get a lot of playing time in September so Yadier can get some rest and so that other teams can see you prior to the offseason. Yadier is signed thru 2020 so not sure your future is in STL.
Quintana
5:49
#1, #2, or a #3 type starting pitcher....what's your opinion?
Jason Martinez
5:49
Very good No. 2 starter. If Quintana is a team's 3rd best starter, they are in very good shape. For example, a healthy Keuchel, McCullers and Quintana would be tough in the playoffs.
Matt Klentak
