Can Bradley Zimmer be a fantasy stud next year? 20 HR / 30 SB? Batting leadoff tonight.
Jason Martinez
5:16
It would come with a lot of Ks, but I think he can do 20/30 if he gets 550+ PAs. He can fly!
Tom
5:19
Can the Mets get Tapia from COL with their trade chips?
Jason Martinez
5:20
I think the Rockies' primary need is a starting pitcher and I don't think the Mets have a healthy one they'd be willing to trade. In other words, Matt Harvey is the only one they'd trade and he's hurt. And his value was already declining.
Erik Russell
5:22
Jason, what your opinion on Yanks dealing Pineda & bringing up Chance Adams.. We all know we're not resigning him next year unless we get a steal of a bargain?..
Jason Martinez
5:22
Too risky to trade Pineda while they're a playoff contender. Veteran starting pitching is so valuable down the stretch and in the playoffs. Can't count on a rookie to pitch deep into the season. Adams will probably be needed at some point, anyways. Ideally, they could get something for Pineda before he becomes an FA but it's a lot easier to accept when they have this kind of season.
Yu and Lucroy
5:24
Where are we playing after Aug. 1?
Jason Martinez
5:24
I'll go with Lucroy to the Dbacks and Yu to the Dodgers or Cubs.
Will
5:26
Any other padres with decent trade value that you see?
Jason Martinez
5:27
Solarte, if he can return from the DL immediately after the All-Star break. Perfect for the Red Sox or Yankees, in my opinion. Maurer should have decent value. Chacin and Cahill have been good.
Jordan
5:29
Royals give a top 20 prospect for lance lynn?
Jason Martinez
5:30
At least. Probably not one of their top 4 or 5 prospects, but Lynn wouldn't be cheap. I think the Royals end up with someone like Lynn.

Is Jimmy Nelson's improvement this season legit?
Jason Martinez
5:33
I think so. He's throwing strikes. Lots of confidence. 2.2 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 indicate that he's taken it up a notch or two from years past.
Manny Machado
5:35
Am I starting the 2018 season in Baltimore?
Jason Martinez
5:35
My guess is no. I think the Orioles will shop him in the offseason and some team will pay a huge price for him.
Jon Villar
5:38
Am I a good candidate? What would a package for me look like?
Jason Martinez
5:38
That .623 OPS won't help. You're staying put.
Q&A
5:40
Thanks for the chat. How do you evaluate a player like Keon Broxton?
Jason Martinez
5:42
Lots of highs and lows, but his CF defense is good enough that they'll keep him in the lineup. And if he's in the lineup everyday, he's a 20/30 guy. But that also comes with close to 200 Ks. Always a chance that one of his slumps extends too far and he loses his job. Brewers have a lot of OF talent on the way.
Bb
5:42
Let's say the braves trade for one of the archer/Quintana/gray trio they've been linked to. Even a "fair" deal is a mistake at this stage, right?
Jason Martinez
5:44
A mistake to trade away young talent now? Not really. I think they believe that they can make the playoffs this season and, even if not, I think the plan is to acquire a frontline starter in the offseason. So acquiring one of those guys now would make sense since it helps them in now and the next few years.
Kevin
5:45
Who has the 1st pick in the draft next year? Giants, Padres, or Phillies?
Jason Martinez
5:45
After they trade away their best pitchers (Hand, Chacin, Cahill, maybe Maurer) by 7/31, the Padres should run away with that honor.
Nick
5:46
Besides JD and Wilson, who else will the Tigers trade away before the deadline?
Jason Martinez
5:48
I think Avila is almost certain to be traded, which is fun because his dad will be the one trading him. I think they'll try to deal Verlander and will listen on anyone else, although it will be challenging trading guys who make a lot of $ beyond '17.

Would lucroy be better than what the Indians are currently fielding at catcher
Jason Martinez
5:52
He's a better hitter, even though he's not having a great year. But Gomes/Perez are a very good defensive duo and they work well with that pitching staff.  And Lucroy blocked a trade to the Indians last season, so I'm sure there are some guys on that team who took that as an insult.
Rays Fan
5:53
The Rays bullpen is about as stable as the San Andreas. Who is a trade deadline target that would help Rays and be a realistic option for Rays to snag?
Jason Martinez
5:54
They definitely need to add a late-inning guy to help Hunter/Boxberger and possibly be a backup plan at closer if Colome continues to struggle. Lots of good options on our Top 60 Trade Deadline Candidates list ... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/top-60-trade-deadline-candidate...

Thanks for chatting! Same time and place next week. And probably some new trade rumors to discuss.
