A good discussion if Schwarber was having a good season with a few other players from each side to balance it out. But he's not.

Who do the Pirates trade? Tony Watson, McCutchen, Nicasio, or Cole?
Jason Martinez
5:11
I'll go with ... Yes. Yes. Yes. No.
Drew
5:12
Jason, please tell me what is up with the Rangers. Are they contenders or pretenders?
Jason Martinez
5:13
Bullpen not as strong as we thought. Odor struggled most of the season. Beltre hurt is probably the biggest reason. Napoli wasn't doing much. With all that said, if they can hang around and get a healthy Cole Hamels and a healthy/effective Tyson Ross in August and September, I think they have a shot to make a run.

When Margot comes back, do they keep Cordero up? Dude's been raking lately
Jason Martinez
5:15
Oh yeah. After another big game today, there's no way they send down Franchy "The Franchise" Cordero.
5:16
That's not putting too much pressure on the kid, right? Actually, he's really not this good (look at his BB/K numbers in the minors last season). Definitely an improved player with huge talent. We'll know more once teams figure him out and he needs to make an adjustment.

5:16
What are your thoughts on Matt Chapman? Are we rushing him like the Pirates did Pedro Alvarez or is he ready to help the A's?
Jason Martinez
5:17
Even if not, it's a good time for various reasons. He's crushing the ball in AAA. There is nothing standing in his way in the majors. He's not a kid (I think he's 24). The A's are not competing so he can get his feet wet in a low-stress environment.

when does Luis Robert hit his first MLB homerun

June 2020.

The reds have dropped six games in a row on the west coast (congrats dodgers and padres) and thev have dropped to last place in the central. Can they climb back inti the central race?
Jason Martinez
5:22
No. They're not built to compete over a 162-game season. I didn't think they had enough pitching with a healthy DeSclafani and Finnegan. Not even close now. Fun to watch with all that offense, though. And the bullpen is good enough to keep them from being a terrible 100-loss team. I think the front office was looking towards 2018-19. Similar to Phillies.

Any news on Charlie tilson's return date?
Jason Martinez
5:23
I think I read that he could start a rehab assignment later this month. It's kind of like starting Spring Training all over so I'd expect him in the minors for at least 2-3 weeks. So maybe mid-July.

5:24
When does Nate Orf, Kyle Wren and Cooper get their chance in the majors?
Jason Martinez
5:24
Barring an injury that opens up a spot, maybe one could get a call in September. None are on the 40-man roster so it would be tough to get all 3 called up this season.

Just to let you know, if Aaron Judge goes 0 for his next 92, he'll be hitting. 240 like you predicted.
Jason Martinez
5:27
If I said that he would be an All-Star who would go on to hit .260 and 30 HR, that would've been a bold prediction. And I would still be way off! Dude is better than anyone expected. I thought he would be a very good player in a year or two. Not an MVP candidate now.

Say Wacha's struggles continue, could he be bumped to the BP and Weaver (if healthy) take his place? I was unimpressed by Gonzales
Jason Martinez
5:29
Wacha had a 3-game rough patch, but he's been fine overall for a back-of-rotation starter. Weaver is next in line, but Jack Flaherty is also moving quickly. Impressive in 3 starts since a promotion to AAA.

Odds that Fisher replaces Aoki for the Astros
Jason Martinez
5:31
I was calling for it last week ... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/06/knocking-down-the-door-adams-bl... I think he sticks unless he looks totally overmatched. He strikes out a lot so we'll see if he can focus a bit more and improve his discipline now that he's in the Majors.

5:32
Any reason to believe these young Rockies starting pitchers can handle the workload and stay in the race?
Jason Martinez
5:34
Not really. It's a big jump from AA/AAA to pitching a full MLB season and pitching meaningful games down the stretch. But they've already exceeded expectations, in my opinion. Once Gray and Anderson come back, they'll be able to start easing back on the young guys. Regardless, I still think they need to acquire a reliable veteran to help down the stretch.

Fyi, we decided over at r/Padres that it's spelled "The Franchyse"
Jason Martinez
5:35
That makes sense. I'll pass it on.

should the Marlins trade Hech now that IT Riddle has established himself
Jason Martinez
5:36
Not much of a market for SS. Especially one who can't hit much.

Do you see Bradley Zimmer staying with the Indians when Almonte and Guyer return?
Jason Martinez
5:37
I do. Almonte is useful but shouldn't be more than a 4th OF. And Zimmer seems to be doing just fine in his 1st MLB stint.

5:40
What do the Brewers do when Braun comes off the DL? Send Brinson down? Trade Broxton?
Jason Martinez
5:40
Brinson needs at-bats and probably more time in AAA. He'd probably go back to the minors. Broxton would be tough to trade. He can be so good at times and so bad at other times. Teams don't really know what they're getting. Brewers should just try to pick their spots with him and try to ride out his hot streaks.

Is Yoan Moncada Chicago bound in July?
Jason Martinez
5:43
I think he'll be up by start of 2nd half. If White Sox hope to compete in '18, I think it's important to get Moncada a few hundred plate appearances this season.

5:45
Reds gotta make room for Winker. Gotta trade a of. Who would you deal.
Jason Martinez
5:46
Whichever one gets them the most in return, I guess. Both have strong value right now. Winker's not doing all that much in AAA, though. He's not forcing the Reds to make room for him.
5:47
If he was forcing their hand, maybe they'd play Schebler in CF with Hamilton still not able to crack .300 OBP. I get to use the ol' "you can't steal 1B" line again.
Theo
5:49
Won't the closer to the deadline the higher the price will be for Hand? Why won't a team just bite the bullet?
