Can the brewers keep this up, or will we see them start to fade?
AvatarJason Martinez

They can keep up being a .500 team or slightly better. I think they were underestimated because they're in a  "rebuild", but the roster isn't bad. Only Shaw/Thames having way better seasons than anyone expected. Don't think they can run away with the division or hold off the Cubs for very long.

Who do you think the Rockies send out when Gray and Anderson come back?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:21
I think Senzatela and/or Freeland can use a break.

Think there's a market for Billy Hamilton or Scott Schebler ?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:25
Yes and yes. Hamilton's value is way down, though. Can't get on base enough to take advantage of speed and not showing much improvement. Schebler's value would be extremely high. Don't think the Reds are motivated to move him. Under contract thru 2022.
Cozart
5:26
You think the Twins would have interest in trading for Cozart instead of keep developing Polanco? To me SS is not the problem the Twins need to address. Their biggest need is pitching
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
They're contenders so I think they'll at least ask. Polanco has an OPS in the low .600s and Cozart is having a huge season. Not sure how Polanco is doing at SS but there were questions as to whether he can handle the position.

Arroyo or Bartolo RoS?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:28
I think Bartolo will get another shot when healthy. Don't think Arroyo will pitch again.

Maton closing games next year for the padres?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:29
It's possible. He could be closing in August if Preller can trade both Hand and Maurer.
Archie Bradley

Am I a starter or a reliever long term?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:32
I think you enter camp next spring as a starter with a very good chance to make the rotation.

How far out will the Twins have to get to become sellers?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:34
They're 1/2 game out of a WildCard spot so they'd have to be really bad for a few weeks. I usually look at teams that are more than 9 games out between now and mid-July as potential sellers. After that, I start looking at any teams that are 7 or more games out.

I'd have to imagine the Dodgers would at least entertain the idea of bringing in McCutchen, especially now since he's heating up.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:34
Yep. They have the trade chips. He would be a nice fit on that roster.

Who do the Reds trade before the deadline?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:36
I think they'll deal Feldman, Storen, Wood and Cozart. I think they'll listen on others, especially Iglesias, Lorenzen and Cingrani, but probably won't deal anyone else.

Hey Jason. Do you think Cleveland could acquire Rajai Davis and/or Eduardo Nunez at the trade deadline? Davis wouldn't cost anything, and both provide much needed speed in the lineup. Davis could play the role Coco Crisp played last year, and Nunez could be the super utility guy.

Wouldn't Rajai Davis play the role that Rajai Davis played last year? In all seriousness, not sure if they have the need this year with so many backup OFs on that roster (Austin Jackson, Dan Robertson, Abraham Almonte, Brandon Guyer). Nuñez would be a nice fit, but I think Giants could get more from a team that would utilize him as a starter.

How is Carlos rodon's rehab going?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:41
Should be close. Maybe 1-2 more starts. Should debut before All-Star break. Bummer. Thought he had breakout potential this season

Jays going to have a fire sale sooner rather than later?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:43
Maybe in the offseason if they finish the season under .500 and not close to a playoff spot. I don't see them falling out of the race before 7/31.

Good evening. Why would the Yankees bother trading good prospects for a first baseman now? They are ahead of where they thought they'd be anyway. Why not just enjoy it and stick to their timeline and if they wind up in the playoffs,so much the better? Thanks for doing this.
AvatarJason Martinez

I don't think they would trade a top prospect for a 1B. If a guy like Matt Adams or Lucas Duda, for example, could be had for prospect(s) not in their Top 15-20, I can see that happening.  If we're talking about a frontline SP with multiple years of club control, then I think they'd at least consider trading top prospects.

Thanks for chatting! Same time and place next week. Hopefully a few more teams heading towards "seller" mode to discuss.
