Their 21-10 record allows them to be patient with CC and also with Adams, who hasn't even pitched a game in AAA for some reason. He has this Double-A thing figured out. If CC's streak of bad starts extends to 6 or 7, I think they would start to consider alternatives (phantom injury DL trip would be likely).

what managers are on the hot seat?
AvatarJason Martinez

If Loria wasn't trying to sell the team, I'd say that Mattingly was on the hot seat. I don't think the poor start bothers him as much when he has one foot out the door.

What's wrong with the Giants?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:16
No MadBum is the biggest problem right now. Bullpen not as reliable as in the past. Maybe they were just due for a bad season. Seven winning seasons in the last 8 years is hard to do. Hard to stay healthy enough for that to happen.

Which of the top teams right now are most likely to fall off?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:18
Rockies. I'll give them 2 months to hang around before their rotation falls apart. We'll see if they can add some reinforcements.

Will Cleveland promote either Allen or Zimmer this year, with the struggles in the outfield?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:21
I think Bradley Zimmer will get a chance by mid-season.

Don't sleep on Jon Gray when healthy! Also, do the Rockies call up Brendon Rodgers if Story continues to struggle at the plate?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:23
When I say the Rockies need pitching, I'm not even considering that Gray is on the DL. I thought he could have a breakout season. But I don't think they have enough starting pitching to survive 162 games. No on Rodgers. He is probably 1-2 years away. Only in HiA.

Any five Philies (limit one catcher) for Mike Trout. Angels' choice. Deal?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:26
Their 5 most valuable players—Odubel Herrera, Maikel Franco, Cesar Hernandez, J.P. Crawford and Jorge Alfaro—still wouldn't get a deal done.

If the Yankees are still for real contenders come July, and let's say are looking to acquire Gerrit Cole, who would be the headline of the exchange? Torres? Frazier? Fowler?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:28
For 2 1/2 years of Cole, I'd say probably Torres and one of Frazier/Fowler.

Has Cahill figured out his sinker, or are his stats just bloated?
AvatarJason Martinez

Sinker looks good. Good command. I imagine he'll be the starting pitcher that gets them a halfway decent prospect in a trade.

Can the Padres trade a reliever for a top 100 prospect. I like Jeimer Candelario, or someone in Houston Astros org.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:31
Brad Hand's value has skyrocketed, in my opinion. I still think a team would have to be very desperate to trade a Top 100 reliever. Fortunately, teams can get that desperate.

Have I won the LF job once Beltre is healthy?
AvatarJason Martinez

I don't see why not.

how hot is my seat right now???
AvatarJason Martinez

That World Series title probably means you're safe for one really bad season without getting fired.

Hi Jason, just wondering are you still involved w the NFL pages on RR? I've been checking to see if the Jets page is updated with all the draft picks, etc....
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Yep. It's all me. I was only able to update 1st 3 rounds of the draft, but I'll be caught up on Rds 4-7 and any other minor moves from the past weeks very soon. MLB keeps me busy.

Altherr a legit piece or just having a good month? Seems like Stairs may have really helped him.
AvatarJason Martinez
5:38
Safe to say that he's not as bad as last season, but we'll see if he can keep it up for another month or two. Also had a really good start to this MLB career in 2015 so this isn't new.

If the mets had pitching depth would harvey be in the minors now?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:39
I don't think they'd go that far. Maybe a DL stint with a phantom injury.

Is Alex bregman overrated?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:40
Currently has a 10-game hitting streak. .772 OPS since April 11th. Kid knows how to make adjustments.

5:42
Do teams still do the 'phantom injury' DL stints? With the power of agents, you'd think that would never happen anymore. Especially if it leads to their client being labeled "injury prone."
AvatarJason Martinez
5:43
Not against the player's will, but a player would rather stay on the MLB roster on the DL than go to the minors. And I don't know if it's ever a completely fake injury. These guys play through minor injuries, bumps, bruises. I'm guessing there's always something that is sore.

How soon can we expect to see Sean Newcomb and Ozzie Albies called up?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:46
Albies is kind of missing his chance for an early call-up with Swanson struggling. Still possible if he heats up, but looks like he's having his own struggles in AAA. I think Newcomb is making a case to be next in line. So maybe June.

Gotta go. Thanks for chatting! Tweet @mlbdepthcharts if I didn't get to your question and I'll be happy to keep the chat going there.
