Not much happening yet this offseason, but the deadline to add players to the 40-man roster is next Tuesday. The non-tender deadline is Nov. 30th. Shouldn't be too much longer before this offseason gets moving.
4:35
If you're interested in this type of stuff, I've sorted out projected payroll thru '23, 40-man roster count and candidates to be added, non-tender candidates, etc. in one post ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-offseason-information-2018/

If the Angels can’t extend Trout, would Syndergaard, Nimmo, Alonso and Gimenez be enough for him?
Jason Martinez
4:37
No. If Syndergaard was under control for at least 4 years, I think the Angels would listen to something along those lines. But if the Mets traded Syndergaard for Trout, they're in not much better shape than the Angels right now. Needs to be a team with an extremely deep farm system and some MLB-ready talent with 5+ years of control to highlight the deal.

Trade for Santana or sign Bour? Make Desmond super utility?
Jason Martinez
4:39
I don't think they'd want to take on Santana's contract. Bour would be a good fit if he drops far enough on waivers (he was placed on waivers today). Desmond as super-utility would be my preference and the preference of many others. Not sure it's Bud Black's preference.

If Kipnis were included in a Kluber trade would that reduce the prospect haul for the yanks ?
Jason Martinez
4:42
If they were to take on Kipnis and Kipnis' contract? Yeah, probably. Not sure if Indians are that desperate to clear their entire payroll. Not too often that a team trades a frontline starter. They
They'll want to make it count.

Pomeranz back to San Diego on a one year deal?
Jason Martinez
4:45
Sounds good to me. He would know better than anyone why he was so good with SD (2.47 ERA, 10.1 K/9 in 17 starts). I think the injuries hampered him with Boston. But maybe he was really comfortable with Darren Balsley (pitching coach). It's not uncommon. San Diego. Petco Park. Darren Balsley. Low pressure. Good combination.
Pomeranz will turn things around and they'll trade him to Boston for Jay Groome in July.

Good evening Jason just wondering now that Craig Kimbrel turn down his qualifying offer do the Red Sox make a qualifying offer to Joe Kelly or do you think they will try and sign Nathan eovaldi
Jason Martinez
4:47
Kelly wasn't tendered a qualifying offer. All three of those guys are options to return. I don't think they'll bring back both Kelly and Kimbrel.

Is inciarte, newcomb and the top pitching prospect of cleveland's choice a good start for kluber? how much more is necessary?
Jason Martinez
4:48
So Enciarte, Newcomb and let's say Kolby Allard or Touki Toussaint? That's a lot. The Braves might even turn that down.

Am I going to go after a big bat like Goldschmidt, Donaldson, or Cruz to support my 2018 Cy Young winner?
Jason Martinez
4:51
Yep. Room for one big bat there. Not sure they'd want to go multi-year for Donaldson but I can see them in the mix if he's willing to sign a 1-year deal. Cruz might be the most likely choice.

Think conforto could be Mets best solution at first base ?
Jason Martinez
4:52
Peter Alonso will be their 1B by early May.
Rayban
4:54
You can start a franchise right now with one player who is it?
Jason Martinez
4:55
Trout is the easy choice, but I would consider Mookie Betts.

4:57
With how well Keston Hiura is playing, should the Brewers trade him and others for someone like Realmuto or Kluber or keep him?
Jason Martinez
4:59
The reason they could get Realmuto or Kluber is because of how good he is playing. He's also on the fast track to the Majors.  But gotta take the risk if you want to trade for an impact player. They're close enough to being a WS contender that it's worth it.
That’s it, Fort Pitt
4:59
When’s Keller get called up in Pittsburgh? As soon asSuper Two passes? By All Star Break? Or After?
Jason Martinez
5:02
Probably won't be one of their Top 8 choices when the season starts. If he's pitching well in AAA after about 10-12 starts, I think he could move into the "next in line" spot. At the least, he can get an occasional start to push everyone else back a day like they were doing with Kingham.

Favorite video game team of all time? I like the 95-96 Indians
Jason Martinez
5:03
'85 Cardinals. SPEEEEEEED! Coleman had 110 SB. Willie McGee had 56 and three others had 30+.
Charlie Hustle
5:03
Jason, Will we ever see a player manager again now that analytics create matchups?
Jason Martinez
5:06
Nope. Not just because it's hard to manage and then decide when to pinch hit yourself late in the game, but because each bench player has to be so versatile. Without any changes to the roster rules, teams will continue to try and keep 12-14 pitchers on their roster so a 3-man bench needs guys that play lots of positions.

5:07
White Sox seem to be in a place to spend if they want to. What odds would you give them in the Harper Bazaar?
Jason Martinez
5:07
Pretty good chance to land one of those top guys. If I had to put $ on it,I'd go with Machado.

5:08
Is Grandal overrated? Since the answer is yes, which catcher would you go with instead?
Jason Martinez
5:10
Realmuto and probably no one else. He's not overrated. There aren't that many good catchers who can hit. Posey will be transitioning to 1B soon. Yadier is 36.

Padres are super heavy on right-handed hitters. What lefty outfielder or third baseman should they go after to be a cornerstone of their next good team?
Jason Martinez
5:15
They won't be adding OF. They need to trade one. They love Franchy Cordero. He's their left-handed hitting OF. He's gonna hit 30 HR and steal 20+ bases in his prime. A lefty-hitting 3B would work. Moustakas is the FA option. Can't think of any lefty trade targets.
