Not sure how attached he is to playing CF. I'm guessing it won't matter if the Jays are the highest bidder. If a team is offering him the CF job and bids in the same neighborhood, that team could have the advantage over the Jays. With that said, OF is a priority for the Jays so I think they'll be aggressive. I don't see them spending a ton of $ to upgrade pitching staff, infield, etc.

If the Cards are able to trade an OF to the Giants, does that take them out of the Stanton sweepstakes?

It shouldn't. They need to trade at least 1 OF regardless. Current OF depth ... Dexter Fowler, Tommy Pham, Stephen Piscotty, Randal Grichuk, Jose Martinez, Tyler O'Neill, Harrison Bader, Magneuris Sierra.

What would be your first priority if your Seattle?

SP would be No. 1 priority, followed by CF, Setup Man, 1B.

With Stanton holding all the cards and with his desire to play on the coast, do the Marlins find a way to get a deal done with SF? Even if it means less top teir prospects and also possibly eating more of his contract they  than they had originally thought?

I know the Marlins are likely to come down from their opening stance of "take on entire contract + top tier prospects", but I don't see how the Giants are in the mix as long as the Cardinals, Red Sox, etc. are interested. IT's still going to take a big financial commitment and some really good prospects to get it done.

How much will Eduardo Nunez get? He was a huge part of the Red Sox second half run

MLBTR prediction is 2 yr, $14MM ... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/2017-18-top-50-mlb-free-agents-... he's such a good fit on several playoff-caliber teams, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to 3 yrs and somewhere between $21MM-27MM.

Michael Kopech starts on the South Side sometime this year. Yes/no

If his BB/9 is under 3.5 in June, I'd fully expect it. If he's still over 4.0 BB/9, I think the Sox will keep him in AAA for the entire season. If you're walking that many guys in the Minors, it usually doesn't get any better in the Majors where hitters are more selective. That makes for too many short and inefficient starts.

Will Oakland remake their outfield? Will Dustin Fowler and Mateo make the Opening day roster?

I think they could bring in a bat this offseason to shake things up a bit. In any case, I'd expect Fowler and Mateo to start in AAA. Fowler will need a few weeks to get back into a groove after missing most of last season. I think they'll continue to move Mateo around and see if he can handle CF. Might be his easiest path to the Majors if he can play OF.

Will Scott Kingery be in the opening day lineup? What position will he start at ?

If Hernandez stays put, I think 3B is most likely. Open competition but he'd have to beat out Franco and Crawford. I think he'll start in AAA.

There's been a trade!!!! Ryon Healy to the Mariners for Emilio Pagan. Gotta go update the depth charts. Same place and time next week. We can discuss some of the best Rule 5 options available.
