He's also heading into his age 33 season so he might've been limited to 2 years even if he had been relatively healthy throughout his career. That post-season performance could've pushed him to 3 years, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 3 yr, $21-24MM.

At least 1 elite prospect. He's had one season that wasn't very good (based on his standards) and eight seasons where he was well above-average. And he's only 31 and isn't overpaid at $14.5MM for '18.

Due to their laid back city, ties to Japan (Nomo, Ohtska, etc), and possibly the desire to let him pitch and hit (see Betancourt),  do the Padres have a realistic chance to sign Ohtani?

Not sure what Ohtani's preferences are. I believe his agent (Nez Balelo) is from San Diego, so maybe that helps.

I think they'll make a strong offer to JDM and move quickly to Carlos Santana if he doesn't accept it. I think they'll get one of the two.

Michael Chavis is the probably the main prospect that the White Sox will ask for. Red Sox farm system has thinned out a lot, though. I think they'll add a bat thru free agency.

If McCutchen does get traded to the Giants, Arroyo has to be coming back, right? If not, who do you think?

He's one of the possibilities. They have a few interesting prospects who should be in the Majors in '18 ... INF Christian Arroyo, SP Tyler Beede, 1B/OF Chris Shaw, CF Steven Duggar.  Might take 2 of those guys. OF Heliot Ramos is years away, but sounds like he's their No. 1 prospect. Not sure if they'd trade him away for someone under contract for 1 season.

I'd say one of their top pitching prospects, one of their best OF prospects and maybe one low-level guy with high upside. So Flaherty/Sierra could be in the vicinity of what it would take.

We all know CarGo isn't coming back to Colorado next year so should I be willing to shell out a large sum of $$ on another OF? Ian Desmond is going to be moved to LF, Chuck Natzy is in CF but I need a guy not named Gerardo Parra to patrol RF. Who is your money on?

Parra is probably going to play RF. Not the popular move, but he was pretty good in '17. Desmond could be a very expensive super-utility guy if he's not needed to be the regular 1B or LF. My money is on Raimel Tapia in LF and Ryan McMahon making a strong push for the starting 1B job.

I think McCutchen makes a lot more sense in SF than Stanton. He's not a great CF, but he's better than Span. They really want to move him to LF.

If Cutch gets traded, Meadows chances of making the Opening Day roster will increase substantially. He'd still have to win the job, though. They can just move Starling Marte to CF and have someone like Adam Frazier in LF until Meadows earns a promotion.

Trading Matt Kemp is what he wants his first move to be. Won't be easy. I'm guessing that any Markakis trade is on hold until he exhausts all potential Kemp trades.
