Too early to tell, but doesn't look good. Probably shouldn't count on him for '19. But these things (elbow discomfort) tend to stay quiet during the offseason and they hope for the best once they get to Spring Training. Astros should plan accordingly.

Could Teheran be moved to the bullpen in the event of Atlanta acquiring a starter?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:22
Nah. He's made 30+ starts in six consecutive seasons. That's rare these days. If the Braves don't need him, plenty of other teams would want him in their rotation.

Rays lure Big Papi out of retirement, hey anything can happen right?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:24
Do it! They can also bring back Fred McGriff, Greg Vaughn, Wade Boggs and Jose Canseco for another run.

Any chance of moving K. Seager? Segura to the hot corner and Dee to short?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:27
Dee Gordon was moved off of SS for a reason. I think they're fine with him in CF or 2B. Seager could be moved in the right deal, but they don't have an in-house replacement. They'd just open up another hole. Their farm system might be the weakest in baseball ... https://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-seattle-mariners/

What am I going to do with my 40 man roster? We have too many people..
AvatarJason Martinez
5:28
First 2 cuts to get down to 40 will be easy. The next 6-8 (that's my guess for how many spots they'll want to clear for Rule 5/offseason) will not be.
5:29
I'm guessing AJ will be working the phones early on and could make multiple trades by mid-November.

If the Dodgers do resign Manny, whose the likest position player made available?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:30
Signing Machado would mean that either Turner/Seager moves to 2B or traded.  And I don't think either would happen, which is why I think Machado signs elsewhere.
Rockies

CF next year? Prefer Dahl and Blackmon to play the sides not center
AvatarJason Martinez
5:33
Sure, if they had a CF who could cover a ton of ground out there. If they stay in-house for CarGo's replacement, I believe Raimel Tapia could get a shot. He can fly, but not sure how good of a defensive CF he is.

Current Roster Resourse for the Giants has Gorkys, Duggar, and Williamson as the starting three. No way that is going to happen, right? Who are potential targets (and plz don't say Harper)?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:35
Nope. Duggar should get a chance to be the CF. Gorkys is ideal as the 4th OF and Williamson probably missed his chance to show what he can do. So they'll need to add at least 1 OF. I doubt they'll want to spend a ton of $. Maybe someone like Lonnie Chisenhall or Adam Jones.

Would you rather enter a post season with the Detroit Tigers lineup or the Cincinnati Reds pitching staff?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:37
Reds pitching staff. I'd use the heck out of Raisel and probably wouldn't trust anyone else to go more than 2-3 innings. But they have some good arms. Luis Castillo to Lorenzen to Amir Garrett to Jared Hughes to Raisel could win a game or two.

5:39
Do Tatis and Bichette stay at SS and when do we see them in the bigs??
AvatarJason Martinez
5:40
Both candidates for a mid-'19 call-up, but would have to force their way to the Majors. No reason to move either off of SS at this point. If both are on track for early '20, I think they'll decide on position next offseason.

5:41
ETA on the Mesa brother arrival to the show?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:43
Don't know enough yet, but Victor Victor is already 22 and considered one of the best prospects in Cuba. I'm penciling him into AA for now and expecting him in Miami in early '20. That would be my guess. Victor Jr. is only 16 so it's way too early to even think about his ETA.

Hi Jason, what ever happened to your gurantee money, thing you were doing for mlbtraderumors
AvatarJason Martinez
5:45
Ready to go. Just decided to hold off on publishing until closer to the offseason (maybe 1-2 days after WS). I get too excited about this stuff and then forget that most people are taking a break from baseball in October or focused on playoffs (not us, obviously).

What does the Angels rotation look like next year?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:48
They have 5 pretty good starters now (Heaney-Skaggs, Barria, Shoemaker-Felix Peña) and a few more that are close to helping out (Jose Suarez, Griffin Canning, Patrick Sandoval). But, as was the case last offseason, they need some more stability. Best if they can add one reliable veteran to lead the way and not have to count on 4-5 of the others for 25+ starts.

5:49
What do expect Brewers to address this offseasean considering how close they were to the World Series
AvatarJason Martinez
5:51
I think they'll non-tender Schoop and look to add a 2B (bring back Scooter!). Their bullpen is one of the best, especially if they keep one of Woodruff or Burnes there with Knebel-Jeffress-Hader. They have a ton of SP depth and it was enough to get them to Game 7 of the NLCS. Jimmy Nelson could return, but can't rely on any pitcher returning from shoulder injury. So, at the least, I think they'll look to add a No. 1 starter.

5:52
Ottovino and Robertson do you see them resigning with current teams or where is the best fits?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:53
No and No. Rockies already have too much $ tied up with Davis, Dunn, Shaw, McGee. Yankees have Chapman-Betances-Green so paying Robertson the $8-12MM he'll probably be seeking isn't likely. Both should land pretty good deals and at least have a shot at a 9th inning job somewhere.

5:56
Could a Carlos Carrasco for Scooter Gennett and Jimmy Herget work?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:57
Carrasco is still under contract for 2 yr, $18.5MM. He's worth a lot more than 1 year of Scooter and a reliever. Would take top prospects if the Indians were willing to move him.
